Week TWO - Piper Moon x Dublin litter pics!

Not much has changed from WEEK ONE, except they are gaining weight daily, making more noises and every now and again, one of them gets a ride over the pool side via a strong suction to a nipple!! Piper alerts me when this occurs and the freeloader is back with his siblings quickly.  :+)

By week 3, eyes will be open, as well as ears, and life as they know it begins to change rapidly. No longer will they be cocooned in a world of no sound or light.

Happily, Piper continues to do an excellent job of mothering and is devouring 4 to 5 pounds of food a day! You would not know it to see her, but she is a 'milk machine'.  :+)

It is a beautiful day, so the pups were taken outdoors briefly for their photo shoot.

Blue Boy - 1.12 lb.

Violet Girl - 1.14 lb.

Piper's pups went on another car ride yesterday.

I had to put them in a laundry basket because the 'puppy bunting' is too small now. By next week, I bet the laundry basket won't hold them all! I like to take them for a car ride once a week, if possible. This process helps them develop a positive experience with traveling.

They are growing like weeds and doing very well. Soon, I will be moving them to the puppy room but I want to be sure the air conditioner is in before I consider this.

Pine Lodge DAISY MAE DUKE - ADNE's sweet medium addition all the way from Oregon.

DAISY IS NOW RETIRED:  Thank you, Daisy for all your wonderful pups.  Happily, we have two of your daughters - Ms. Sadie Benz and Christy Brinkley; as well as a hopeful stud in Force of Hobbit to continue your lines.  :+)

Daisy arrived and simply slipped into our household as if she was born here. Like most of my doodles, she LOVES water - be it splashing in her water bowl, swimming in our pool or investigating the Tugboat in the puppy play area.

Silly, playful Daisy.

Gorgeous flowing non shedding coat.

I think she wants lessons on how to steer the boat!

Daisy has been such a great addition. She is very willing to be submissive to the other females here; yet interacts with them with great confidence and friendly overtures. Daisy follows me everywhere I go and is an especially wonderful car rider.  She is not a huge licker but most definitely a snuggler extrodinaire! A lap is the perfect place for this lightweight girl.  :+)  We are so very happy Daisy has joined our family.

Piper's litter is one week old.

For a litter as large as it is, they are all doing quite well. I know I will be introducing baby gruel to them as soon as possible to help Piper so they are not depending solely on her for their nutrition. She is keeping them clean and content at this time.

Oddly, not one pup in this litter will be curly like their dad, Dublin. Some have his color but not his curls. They should all be wavy fleeces. :+)

Enjoy the pics!

Piper began whelping at 3:35 am.

Whew, it has been a long night of labor but she is chugging along now. The first three were born in a half hour! Then two more in another half hour.  Now that the sun is up, Piper has delivered eight (make that TEN) pups so far - 6 apricots and 4 blacks. Six of them are males and four are females. Happily, both colors are also in both genders.  :+)

I PRAY Piper is done with 10 gorgeous pups! She ate a pile of raw chicken necks, along with all the placentas and vanilla ice cream for dessert. She is happy, content, full and so are her pups.

A proud momma!

Piper has wrapped her babies in black furry love!
It is quite the variation in the apricots from cream to almost red!

Piper is in early stage labor!

Frequent pottying is one of the first signs of an impending whelp, so that sign began at 3:30 this morning - yawn! Next early stage is a 'restlessness' followed by a slow, constant panting. We are at the restless/panting portion.

Update: Not much has changed, still panting - I expect it will be an all nighter.

Keep checking!

Sweet Georgia Brown (RETIRED) came for a visit today and..................

a clipping! Georgie is such a sweet, confident, happy girl - you just fall in love with her at first sight. Her coat was really long (4 or 5 inches) of GORGEOUS fleece but tick season is upon us and her guardians needed her to be shorter for ease of finding those little buggers.

I do believe that Georgia will remain a shade of milk chocolate brown - not like Baker's Chocolate but more Milky Way. Yum! A future ADNE breeder, I hope!

I love her size and coat. She is 5 mos. here.

Georgie is a 'poser'.

Wouldn't you give this face a treat?

Happily relaxing after her clip.

Look how long it was! She arrived as a beautiful brown bear!  :+)

Sadly, Georgie has never been bred and is retired as a pet with her guardians.

Piper Moon will be coming this weekend!

She will be here for her 'maternity stay'. I will post some pics of her once she has arrived and is settled. I expect her delivery will be quite the 'Red Carpet' event as Piper is a bit of a drama queen. I already bought an Adaptil Collar for her to sooth away the anxieties that early stage labor brings. I think I might wear one myself. (chuckle).

Now we wait.

Today, Nellie Bly finally went back to her guardians after a whirlwind breeding cycle. Nellie dilly dallied quite a bit with regard to her hormone levels, so we had to wait and wait until her body reached the proper numbers.

I know we had three excellent breedings with both doodles happy to oblige each other and now look forward to a hopeful arrival of minis just before the Fourth of July.

Thank you Nellie Bly for being a wonderful guest and giving me sweet kisses each morning. Also, to Emmet Piccolo her date, who jumped for joy every time we arrived - and most of all to my guardians for both who were beyond accommodating to make this happen.  :+)
