Oh golly, the snow.....

The pups' seventh week brought in quite the snowstorm!  Although it is 'roaring' outside, we are all snug and warm listening to the wind and watching the snow accumulate.  I had to go and get an ingredient for my husband who is making his yummy baked beans and the driving was MISERABLE!  However, it was a small price to pay when we have dinner tonight!  :+)

Every time an owner comes to visit they can't believe how fast the pups are growing.  I am still hitting myself on the head for counting the weeks wrong - they will be monsters by 'go home' time!  They play more but still need their naps. I have finally switched to dry kibble - no more making their food mushy as their teeth are plenty sharp and numerous!  If they can bite into my shoes, pants, hands and what not, they can chew their food!  :+)

I am hoping that there will be some decent weather days where they can go outdoors, it is time for an adventure.  It looks like that won't be until early February but I am looking forward to them having the experience.

Today's session is 'Winter Greeting' - indeed it is!

My personal thoughts on each pup:

This is a rugged boy who will certainly enjoy playing, companionship, tug games and
any type of exercise.  He is going to be solid enough to handle most activities.

The 'giant' in this litter!  Almost 9 lbs. at 7 weeks tells me he will be 30 - 35 lbs. easily - but it is muscle and boning.  A confident, active, playful guy who initiates play and would love nothing more
than to have a constant companion to share his day with.

Another furry companion and people to share his day with would be the cat's meow for this fella.
He also loves to cuddle but is up for any entertainment.

Oh so sweet!  A quiet home where she will be the princess appeals to this girl.
However, she is not anxious.  Takes herself to nap, play or just watch the world go by.

Winnie Mc Phee is the 'apple of my eye'.  She ticks all the boxes to become
an ADNE addition.  Her full name means 'Dark friend of peace'.  She is all that.  :+)

The most engaging female in the litter.  Loves play, attention,  wrestling and activity.
Would do well in a home that enjoys outdoor activities and meeting people.

Brinkley in retirement.

Brinkley is officially in retirement.  She has done an incredible job as a breeding momma for ADNE.  All her pups are delightful and I could not be more pleased with her 'gift' to me of Winnie McPhee, who I hope, will continue in her momma's legacy of lovely pups with amazing temperaments.

RETIREMENT LOOKS GOOD ON YOU, BRINKLEY!

Soon, Brinkley will have one of her children sharing her home to romp and play with.  Both guardians and Brinkley are counting down the days along with all the new owners of her babes.  :+)

Brrrrrrrr....it is cold outside! Week 6 - Brinkley x Diesel

We have a wagon full of wood and puppies!  The wood keeps our house warm and the puppies warm our hearts - a win/win!

The pups had a heavy day of socialization.  By the time I could take pics, they were pretty exhausted.  Finally, they now have a late afternoon uninterrupted nap session.

People are so blown away on how much they grow and change week to week.  It truly is amazing!  They are ruffians now - grabbing, chewing, biting shoelaces, fingers, pant legs and anything else they can reach.

They are eating just The Honest Kitchen now with a splash of Kefir milk as they are fully weaned from Brinkley.  Today, was their last 'snack'.  This week, I will begin introducing more FROMM GOLD kibble to their meals and we will see how they adjust.  :+)

Purple Girl is only interested to see which direction the wagon is going.
She has no intention of helping unload it.  Ha, ha.  6 1/8 lbs.

Blue Boy is looking at us saying 'I have to unload all these'?  6 1/2 lbs.

Winnie Mc Phee is perfectly happy going for a ride.  She will offer 'Coffee?  Tea?'  4 3/4 lbs.

Black Boy is saying 'easy, peasey - add a few more sticks'!  7 1/2 lbs.

'Don't expect me to carry any of these - I am just a dainty thing'!  Teal Girl - 5 1/4 lbs.

Red Boy 'I'll help you Teal, I have a lot more muscle than you do'!  7 lbs.

Week Five - Brinkley 3 x Diesel

Boy, things are moving quickly!  These babies are growing like crazy!  I guess the gruel they are getting three times a day is very nutritious and mommy's snacks are really doing the job.  :+)

Now, I can place them directly on the tile floor and they are pretty darn sturdy on those paws!  I love all the stages of puppy rearing but especially love watching the 'learning curve' in each week of development. They are doing extremely well using their bathroom - such a smart group.

We have had numerous visits with a few local ones setting up weekly 'dates" until Pick Up Day which I have targeted as FEBRUARY 19TH.  It is a SATURDAY and I have not determined a time yet.  I would like to hear from everyone if this day works for you and if there are any time constraints first.  Please let me know via an email directly to me.  Thank you.

Again, I have some sleepy heads in this week's photo shoot.  I like them to be on a down time in energy but never seem to get all six of them at the sweet spot!  Oh well.

Soft, smoochie Blue Boy - 5 1/2 lbs.

Little charmer Pink Girl - 4 lbs.  May be keeping for an ADNE addition.

Sweet & inquisitive Purple Girl - 5 1/8 lbs.

Sensitive Red Boy - Six pounds of snuggle.

A nap partner - Teal Girl - 4 3/4 lbs.

A RUGGED companion - all 6 1/2 lbs. of him.  He is a good cuddler, too.

Re-arranging while the pups explore with mom and friend.

The pups really enjoy coming out of their pen and exploring the room.  Today, I decided to make an addition to the pen space to accommodate their activity and growth level.  I needed to put in a new bed so 'we needed an addition'.

Thankfully, the Richelle pen system allows for just that.  So while momma and Gunny entertained the pups, I quickly added the new addition.  It went very smoothly and now we have a 'bathroom, a bedroom and a 'kitchen' area' where they can sleep, poop and eat!  :+)

Now that they have begun eating quite well three times a day, Brinkley is able to slowly wean them.  As you can see in the pics, she is so calm and enjoys just being with her babies.  Since I pre-feed them a meal before she is allowed in to nurse, they are already satisfied and nursing from Brinkley is just 'comfort food'. :+)

Here is Gunny saying 'Hello' and washing a pup's face.

Brinkley keeping an eye on some of the pups while other snack.

Hey, what are you guys up to???

Give it another day and that pup will be climbing the step!!

Enjoying nuzzling her babies.

Pups are all tired out and the 'addition' is complete - at least for this age level.

WEEK FOUR - Brinkley3 x Diesel Litter!!

I just love the fourth week!  They are more like little doggies than newborns.  Walking, barking, playing, sniffing and beginning to eat from a bowl!!!  Brinkley is at the first stages of numerous breaks from very demanding puppies.

This morning I went to the store to get some Meyenberg Goat's Milk as well as some plain Kefir Milk.  I find both these items critical to begin the weaning process as they are full of nutrients and probiotics.  While there, I saw the cutest little stuffed sheep that had the same 'coat' as Brinkley, so I had to buy it.  When I put it in their pen, they all tried to nuzzle into its belly looking for the 'milk jugs'.  It was so darn cute.

All is going well for Brinkley and the pups.  Each day, I take them out of their pen to walk around the pup room to get use to a new space.  They enjoy sniffing and checking out the stuff on the floor and under the cabinet.  Then they are back in their pen for a nap because exploring is really tiring for those little legs!

Today, the pups had their first taste of Goat's Milk and they lapped it right up!

After eating, I put in their new toy - a stuffed sheep and they had a ball sniffing, licking
and snuggling with it.  They had such a good time a nap was necessary!
I had to wake most of them up for our photo session.

Here is sleepy Red Boy - all 5 pounds of him!

This adorable shot is Teal Girl.  4 pounds.

Purple Girl was still a bit drowsy but did her best.  4 1/8  lbs.

Looks like Blue Boy is winking!  4 1/2 lbs.

Pink Girl was ready to roll right out of the bowl.  3 1/2 lbs.

I had a heck of a time getting this 'turkey' in the bowl - 5 1/4 lbs.!
I literally had to shake him out - his belly is so round!

Now that they are four weeks, I am taking appointments for visits.  I have one scheduled for this coming Monday and Wednesday.  Remember, all applicants must make a visit here before 'go home' time!  I look forward to visiting with all of you.  :+) Joyce

FANTASTIC idea for customers who love winter sports and do a lot of walking with their doodle!!!

On one of the forums I belong to, someone posted this great idea.  I know many of you enjoy winter sports and love to have your doodle with you but the poor things get full of snowballs and frozen feet.  Then, if you love to walk, salt sticks to the legs, toes and feet.  Look at this link for a great option to keep your doodles comfortable in snow or rain - and prevents you having to clean up a happily exercised, but messy doodle!  Please copy and paste in your Browser.  :+)

HAPPY NEW YEAR! Wk. 3 - Brinkley x Diesel Litter.

The pups are sure showing their growth this week.  They are 'almost' walking as I took pics today.  They still wobble often but are getting stronger and stronger.  I have watched them try to 'open mouth' play with each other and every now and again, I hear a baby 'bark'! These are huge steps in their development!  By the way, they are using the litter box often!

Each week is also toe-nail trim day and I also take their weights.  Most times, I can tell on which side of the scale they will favor at maturity - above or below the prediction of size.  As the guidelines go...if both age and weight are equal ( 3 weeks/3 pounds) they should be in the 25 to 28 mature weight.  If above, closer to the 28 pound marker; if below, closer to the 25 marker.

I am posting a few pics for all to enjoy.

Red Collar Male - 3 and 3/4 lbs.

Teal Collar Female - 3 lbs.

Black Collar Male - 4 lbs.

Purple Collar Female - 3 and 1/4 lbs.

Pink Collar Female - 2 and 3/4 lbs.

Blue Collar Male - 3 and 1/4 lbs.

Our son has an armful........

while our grand-kids each cuddle with a pup.
I placed pee pads on them so they would not get 'sprinkled on'!!  :+)

Sweet Brinkley with her babies.
