THIRD WEEK - Phoebe#2 x Diesel Litter.

Whew!  Don't know about you but boy am I glad the chaos of Christmas is now over!  Lots of company, grandchildren, food, sweets....let's not forget the piles of wrapping paper, ribbons and presents galore all over the place!!

Calm has decended at ADNE. Well ...... sort of.  One family has left but a new one has arrived.  Well let's just say an upcoming wedding is being planned and our nephew's fiancĂ©' is with us for a few days.  She is a love.  It seems our spare room is never lonely for long. :+)

PUPS!  Oh my the first day of the move was not welcomed with open arms - instead with lots of whines!  It always takes a day for them to acclimate to more light, space, noise and smells.  By late afternoon they were all fine and liking the new space.  Nearly every week their spot will change slightly to accommodate their growth and encourage them to think about doing their potty business in the potty area.  All of this takes time and effort.  I start early - as soon as they can begin walking.  ALL of them are too fat to walk well at this time!!

I hope you enjoy the pics now that they are beginning to look like little stuffed puppies!  :+)

The SECOND week. PHOEBE#2 X DIESEL

Tis the season of chaotic schedules, holiday cheer, shopping and wrapping till you drop...is it not?  Fortunately for me, I can 'chill out' holding a pup for a snuggle.  :+)

Phoebe continues to be a great momma in spike of her constant ball chasing requirement.  :+). My husband is thrilled to be able to play ball with her.  He misses his ball-chasing girl, Willis.  We all know how are departed companions leave a hole in our hearts.  :+(

The pups have all opened their eyes and do an 'army' crawl at this time.  Still not much to take pics of but that will change soon.  Once the holiday is over and company gone, I will move them to the puppy room and the pics will be more exciting.  In a couple more weeks, you will be able to visit as well - stay tuned for that announcement!

CINDER is simply a black blob at this time.  Her pics will really show up once she is up and about because her big white blaze on her chest is simply ADORABLE!  She is cranky when I do her exercises and I have to laugh and say 'well, don't you have an opinion!'  2 lbs. 15 oz.  WOWSER!

JINGLES was the perfect model today.  Looked straight at the camera and did not move.  How I wish it were that easy all the time!!  A cubby pup at 2 lbs. 15 1/4 oz.  He is a white whale.

ELF!  There MUST be a competition going on between Elf and Jingles for being so photo cooperative. I hope it continues.  I love taking pics when I have agreeable subjects - however, pups move all the time.  No one wants to see pics of pups sleeping, right?  Elf is the heavyweight at 3 lbs., 1 oz.

The itty bitty.  Like the twinkling STAR in the sky, this girl is holding her own against her big DIPPERS!  I was so happy to see her weight at 1 lb., 4 ozs. this morning.  :+)

Guess who opened his eyes today........

It is JINGLES!  Wasn't I surprised when I was doing his exercises to see those little peepers open!  He can't see yet but he is sure on track for this milestone.  Generally, eyes begin opening on Day 10 and onward.

Star is a tiny thing next to her 'oversized' siblings!  They are over 2 lbs.!  I think they are eating banana splits!  I watch them nurse and they literally 'plow' down the teats moving anything that is in their way including Star!  I have to get Phoebe in her little bed and put Star there to nurse all alone so she gets what she needs.  Gheesh.

PHOEBE#2 X DIESEL - Their first week!

Wow, a full week has gone by and Phoebe's litter is doing great.  I did decide to switch their sleeping quarters to a higher sided 'box' and Phoebe is much happier as she now has a 'designated' place where she can lie down and take a nap away from pups.  It seemed that Phoebe insisted she be in the back of the original bed and kept moving it away from the wall so she could fit!  Oi.  Now, all are happy including me!  :+)

For several days now, I have been doing Early Neurological Exercises with the pups and will continue for another week.  These simple exercises help kick in their neurological system response to different positions such as head up, head down, touching their feet and placing them on a cool clothe.  These exercises offer benefits for their development as well as emotional stability and health.  Pups eyes do not open until they are approximately 10 days old, so they only smell and feel their momma.  Doing these exercises brings a whole new dimension to their young lives.

Soon pictures will be more animated, but at this time, they mostly sleep.

Phoebe had a visit today.

Her guardian family came by to see her and the pups.  She was so happy to see them but only wanted to play ball!!  Phoebe is such a Ball-A-Holic!  All day long is still never enough!

While Phoebe was entertained, I snapped a pic of the babes.  :+)

Pups first vet visit - Phoebe x Diesel #2

As I always do, once the pups are born and a couple days of age, I make an appointment with my vets to have them checked over to be sure they are in good shape and nothing is questionable.

  • They are thoroughly examined (ears, mouth, abdomen, appendages, heart, temperature, skin)
  • Dew claws are removed if evident (this prevents tears from happening when out and about as well as an injury prevention when at groomers)
  • weighed to be sure they are gaining appropriately
  • are active not lethargic
At the same time, Phoebe is also checked over to be sure she has no fever, that her uterus is 'cleaned out' and free of debris, her mammary glands have milk and her lymph nodes are all normal.

Happily all are perfect!

Commenting on the AnnaBlog....

It appears, Blogger does not like it when you use an iPhone/iPad for commenting.  For some crazy reason only comments made with a computer seem to work.  If someone knows how to fix this issue, PLEASE share!!

Phoebe's litter - pics.

Tis the season to be very busy with the holidays AND puppies!  With our eldest son in Guam, Christmas has a new dimension at ADNE!  Packages take a LONG time so new methods needed to be discussed and implemented!

I thought some holiday 'funnies' needed to be shared, so although the pups have an ID colored collar, I though I would nickname them in the spirit of this joyful season.  Here goes!

What is so funny about this guy is I nicknamed him
'Elf' but he is the biggest pup so far! 15 1/2 ounces!

I thought 'Star' (as in Gold star) was appropriate for this little female.
She weighs 13 5/8 ounces.

Miss 'Cinder' has a beautiful white blaze on her chest and a tiny
bit of white on a toe.  Weighs 14 1/8 ounces.

The proud momma and her crew.

Last but not least is 'Jingles' at 13 7/8 ounces.  I expect him
to have light patches of apricot on his creamy coat.

Sorry it has taken me all day to get this done but I did try this morning but the sun in my window was a problem, so I did some errands and tried again early this evening.  Enjoy.  I hope you can smile about the nicknames.  I am just in a holiday mood, I guess!!  Ho, Ho!

Phoebe is taking her time!

When she is ready, she will happily climb into the pool and get going!  You can't rush mommas - everything is on their schedule.  Phoebe is eating well, going outdoors for some fresh air and sunlight and sleeps through the night.  Yup, still playing ball too!  There is nothing more I could ask for.  :+)

Phoebe is here for her maternity stay!

She is doing very well and we are now waiting for her five babies to arrive.  I don't believe she is ready yet but I expect I will have several sleepless nights as her potty needs increase.  She has quite the belly and I expected more than five possible pups when I saw her!  They must be some fat babies!!

I did a quick photo of Phoebe in black & white because there is too much glare in my home right now!  Plus it accents her pretty eyes.  :+)

Black Doodle plans

First, I hope all of you had a fabulous THANKSGIVING.  We certainly did - very, very busy with our poultry business, company arriving and our grandkids but it was a blessed occasion with tons to eat, desserts galore, helpful hands and a 28 pound turkey enjoyed by our family.  And, we STILL have leftovers!!

A thought occurred to me that although we are on pins and needles awaiting for Phoebe's litter to arrive in early December, a thought strayed from my brain about upcoming litters.  My plan is to breed for a mostly black litter.  I would love to hear some thoughts from my followers about this.  It won't change my mind  -as my personal preference is a black doodle BUT I do like hearing why so many people prefer almost any other color BUT black!  Some reasons I have listened to:

  • #1 - Everyone tells me they can't see the ticks.  Hmmm... okay, but you sure can FEEL them. If you cuddle with your doodle in the evenings like we do, have your tick remover and a small jar nearby because you will find some.  Plus, the flea/tick collars work on all colors of doodles.
  • #2 - You can't see their eyes...neither can you see the eyes of Old English Sheepdogs, some Terriers, Afghans, Bergamasco, Chinese Crested, Komondor and Puli to name a few.  If there is too much hair over your doodle's eyes - trim it!!  :+)
  • Black dogs, in general, don't show up well in pictures.  OK, I give up on that one but...it truly depends on the photographer.  There are some amazing pics of black dogs done by great photographers.  I do agree, taking a family pic with your black pup/dog can be challenging but it is doable.  I am not a great photographer but I do use the tricks that are posted for all to try and implement by people that share the 'lighting tips'.  Just Google it!
If you have any information why YOU don't want a black doodle, please share because I would like to know the hesitation.  I still am planning a black pairing because very few breeders will even take a chance on having black pups and I simply don't understand the mechanics of this thought process.  So enlighten me!

Enjoy planning for the holiday season! Ho! Ho!

Phoebe is confirmed pregnant!

I have also scheduled an x-ray to confirm numbers for early December as an ultra sound is basically to say a 'pregnancy is happening'.

Phoebe looks great and is enjoying all the doting and 'extras' a pregnancy 'requires'.  :+)

Today PHOEBE & DIESEL had a date!

Everything went smoothly and I am hoping puppies will arrive in early December!  Possible 'Go Home' date is Feb. 10th right before Valentine's Day!!  Heck, they will be going home in time to enjoy some snow and then Spring will be right around the corner.  :+)

In about a month, Phoebe will have an Ultra Sound to confirm pregnancy and check on the development of the puppies.  Let's keep our fingers crossed for good news.

Preparations are underway for the Phoebe x Diesel mating!

I was just given notice that Phoebe is cycling and Diesel has been put on 'full alert' for his upcoming date.  Diesel is as excited as the applicants for their pups!

Keep checking here for updates!  Phoebe will have her first progesterone test (hormone levels) on Thursday, Oct. 5th to see where she is at.  Very exciting!!

Having some glitches.

 Hello,

Can anyone who reads my AnnaBlog make a comment like 'Hello' so I know people can still read my posts?  Looking at breeding plans and want to be sure the AnnaBlog is working like it should.  A lot of 'bots' have been hitting my site for some odd reason!  Bah!  :+) Joyce

The Bellamy x Duckie Litter have all gone home!

This morning, the last pup was picked up and on her way to her new home.  Typically, all pups leave at one time on the same day but this group did not follow the 'normal' pattern!  Of course, it being summer, so many plans are made way in advance and sometimes, we must flex, right?

This wonderful group of pups was so good and made me laugh so many times.  We all loved the visits and conversations and looked forward to the next. :+)

I will not be having any more litters until the spring of 2024, so this was the last group for the year.  Thank you to all who purchased these adorable pups, may your years be numerous and healthy with your sweet companion.  Never hesitate to contact me with questions.  Be well and be happy - you will be tired with your new addition, that is normal.  :+) Joyce

This family was a Guardian for my program for a few years.  Once dear Elsie was retired, a
request came in for a companion to join their home.  Louie (Green Collar) was the perfect
match to play with Elsie and entertain the family for many years.

Miss Pink - now known as Tillie, was the last pup to be picked up.  She had an extra three days
here at Annabelle Doodles and enjoyed playing with Winnie and our four
grand-daughters. She swam, chased kids, was introduced to a leash with each one taking turns 'walking' her and learned to self sooth herself when all the siblings left.  A real sweetheart.

A long trip was in store for Finnick (Lt. Blue Boy).  Hopefully, it went well.  It is tough to
be in a car with a pup that might whine for four hours!!  Finnick will be part of a
large family.  He has a lot to live up to with several adults and a teenager to enjoy his antics.

Another past Guardian couple decided this was the time to add a calm, gentle soul
to the household. Their adult ADNE Labradoodle, Georgie, should provide Miss Haley (Red Collar)
a great paw print to follow for good behavior.  We shall see.  :+)

Tiki (Yellow Collar) has a huge task before her.  Amy was hoping for a pup that might
become her Service/Assistant companion.  Lots of training is ahead for both but I
feel Tiki has the determination and intelligence to give it a whirl.
I look forward to hearing about her successes.

Jack (Navy Collar) also had a long trip to Virginia.  On top of that - a plethora of activity
by his family as they were settling an estate.  Jack had the envious placement of being with his mom, Bellamy, for a few days as packing and storing was in full swing.  I am sure Bellamy enjoyed
having her son's company during those extra days.  :+)

Another hot day and another swim for the pups!

The pups were panting and I thought...okay, let's go for another swim!  All the grandkids were already in the pool so why not add some pups to the mix???

Happy faces and cool pups, what could possibly be better???

What a fun time!

You try taking pics of five kiddos AND five pups - perfect it is not but it is sure fun trying!!! :+)

SUSTENANCE HERBS for your puppy!

A head's up to a wonderful source of holistic, herbal products that don't harm but boost your dog/puppy health!  Please check out this Herbalist and her products as it is a far better path to follow than traditional chemicals from your vet.

Case in point: In almost 20 years, I have never had one of my doodles get Lyme disease - I had some results called 'Exposure to Lyme'  (which just means your dog is producing antibodies to combat that nasty tick bite) but never diagnosed with Lyme disease.  Well, when Daisy didn't look 'normal' to me, I went to my vet to have her checked.  Did some blood and urine work and she was diagnosed with Lyme and put on Doxycycline.

Move forward...on Doxy for a few days and....excessive diarrhea, a common problem with the use of Doxy.  Vet suggests a bland diet (chicken & rice) and hold off the Doxy for a few days for recovery.  Hmmm..... so, won't the diarrhea come back when I start the Doxy again????  Did not like this protocol but needed to take care of the problem.

I contacted an Herbalist I knew from years back who I remembered started an herbal store to treat animals holistically - Joyce Belcher of Sustenance Herbs in Kittery, Maine.  Yup - she had just what Daisy needed Bor-L-Immune!  This product is great for BOTH humans and animals to prevent, treat & cure tick bites! Joyce, herself, had Lyme disease years back and treated herself with this product and VOILA!

This store has many products to protect and treat numerous issues if they occur with your dog or pup and I HIGHLY recommend that you check out her website.  Daisy is doing so much better and doing it without side effects.  I love using products from nature!

Let's feature Miss Pink! UPDATE: SOLD!

 What is she about?

  • She is a true miniature and will mature about 17 lbs.
  • She has an adorable Black and Tan Phantom Pattern - think the color placement on Bernese Mountain Dogs or Dobermans - very elegant and striking!
  • A real cuddle bug.  Loves to be carried like a baby and walked about.  Perhaps you would like a couch buddy?  She will happily share a bowl of popcorn with you.  :+)
  • Has energy but is not a 'high energy' pup.
  • Many times, she will approach you and sit, waiting for you to spot her and pick her up - she loves to be the one on my lap as I pat her siblings.
  • Although the smallest in the litter, she holds her own wrestling, chasing and running around with her littermates.
  • Pink is not shy but she is not a bully either - gets along well with others.
  • Shows respect to older dogs.
  • Her size and friendly nature allows her to be the perfect 'Snow Bird' companion.

Grand-daughters playing with the pups!

The pups were having a fabulous time playing with some of our grand-daughters today.  All seemed to be enjoying the licking of faces, pulling of hair, tugging of fingers and toes but most of all - just being with puppies!

They have been waiting so long to enjoy puppy breathe once again.  I am sure the pups will be totally ready for naps each day they are here - girls too!  :+)

HAPPY FOURTH OF JULY EVERYBODY! Bellamy x Duckie Litter - 8 weeks!!!

The eighth week has arrived and what a week it will be!  Let's all keep our fingers crossed that the Fourth of July holiday will have some sun.  So many are traveling to see family and those darn showers have really been a bummer so far!

Today, the weather did NOT provide sunshine but...I did manage to get their pics done after the first downpour and did not risk waiting too long before the next might come.  They predicted thunder showers hence the hustle!

Please take this week to read my contract with regard to your vet appt., also Spay Secure. Check out trainers, veterinarians and a groomer.  Call your vet to set up an appointment NOW - do not wait until you pick up your pup!  You have 7 days from July 9th to have your pup vet checked to comply with the contract.  Most vets have long lead times to do 'normal' health checks.  Don't forget a stool sample (and a treat) when you bring your pup to the appointment.

Yes, the pups have gone out in the rain.  I am sad that it has not been warm enough to introduce them to the kiddie pool but we may get a day of heat and sunshine.  Our grand-daughters (4) will wear them out quite a bit over the next week or so.  They can hardly wait.  :+). All are eating FROMM GOLD PUPPY kibble in the pink and gold bag.  Have it ready at your home.  This variety HAS grain in it as it should.  DO NOT feed your pup grain free food, please.  The Honest Kitchen is another quality product that I highly  recommend.  It looks like dried oatmeal but isn't - just add some broth or water, stir and you are all set.  The pups have eaten that as well.

The litter is now 'rowdy'.  They are nipping like crazy, chewing, grabbing and being hooligans!  It is normal pup behavior - get ready for it.  Find your trainer so you can nip this behavior asap.  They are also sweet, cuddly and love attention.  :+)

Yellow Girl is quite unique.  She has a 'ghost' phantom pattern.  If you look closely at the pic,
you can see her reddish shadows near her eyebrows, a bit on her muzzle and legs.  It will not be as evident as Pink Girl's pattern but it is there.  An outdoorsy type that would do well in an active home.

Lt. Blue Boy is an easy going kind of fellow who enjoys a good wrestle or tug game but just as content
to snuggle and watch a movie while you scratch his belly.

Green Boy really needs a more quiet home.  He likes to chill and cuddle.  A 'fraternity' atmosphere is
not his ball of wax.  Gentle introductions, a nice walk and lots of love is his mantra.

Red Girl is bulky but also squishy.  Loves a warm lap, good food, a gentle hand and sometimes a 'good ol' tugging match' to get the blood flowing....then a nap.

Navy Boy is a bit on the soft side.  A gentle approach and patience and he will be your loyal companion.
Definitely enjoys patting but not rough housing unless he initiates it.
A well managed household would suit him perfectly .

The phantom girl - Miss Pink!  A tiny thing that 'roars like a lion'.  Loves to be the center of attention whether she initiates a wrestle or is being slam dunked!  Small but mighty!  Is curious, attentive,
smart and enjoys being 'The Apple of Someone's Eye'.  I would say she is a bit of a show off. :+)

Unless I hear from my trainer (sick) within the next couple of days, I will be assigning these pups myself by the weekend.  I definitely embrace my trainers input but given the situation, need to move forward.  I do have two pups available if you know of anyone looking.  Two buyers bowed out due to their own situations and I understood.  No one knows what is happening at any given time and flexibility is necessary.

BELLAMY X DUCKIE'S LITTER IS 7 WEEKS TODAY!

Happily, all are doing well and enjoying the sunshine we have been gifted with today!  The pups have enjoyed a lot of freedom now that they have all learned how to navigate the dogie door from the Pup Room.  Even when it is raining, they have ventured outside, especially Miss Yellow.

Mommy, Bellamy, is now with her guardians full time and they are all so happy.  A few visitors have come and the pups enjoy the visits immensely.  Our four grand-daughters will be here in about a week and the pups will be inundated with love, pats, cuddles and noise!

I took most of the pics in one of my flower pots except one Lt. Blue Boy who wasn't happy in that setting. He was perfectly happy in a different flower pot.  Guess he knows what he likes! :+)

If you know anyone looking for a pup, we do have one pup available due to a timing issue.  Remember July 9th is Pick Up Day!  Time will be announced after Temperament Testing is completed.

If anyone is interested in Yellow Collar Girl, please call me or send in an application.
Miss Yellow. Loves the outdoors! Always ready to be involved with something. A happy spirit! A willing, able and happy partner to do anything or go anywhere.  AVAILABLE
Mr. Lt. Blue Boy who decided to be different.  He was a perfect gentleman in this setting.
He is a gentle soul who likes to play, nap and cuddle.
Oh Miss Pink! Look at that face...something up her sleeve?  Loves to be held, belly rubbed and carried around.  She IS small so it really isn't too much of a problem, right?
Mr. Navy Boy - another cuddlebug.  Follows you around just waiting for the moment you will pick him up.  A real tail wagger.
How sweet is Mr. Green Boy?  Very.  Will even fall asleep in your arms.  If you are looking for a pet to snuggle on the couch, the chair or your bed - look no further.
Miss Red Girl - enjoys playing with the other pups. Energetic but loves to get patted.  Is a hefty girl for her mini status so can handle lots of games and a bit of rough housing as well. A true family pet.
