I begin this process by removing them from the pen as I clean the litter box and rearrange toys and what-not. At first they will all be scared of the new surface and space but it will only take a day or two before it becomes a happy adventure of exploration. Once this step is mastered and weather permits, they will have their first trip outside and begin learning how to navigate the ramp and 'smell' the wonders of the fresh outdoors. Exciting times ahead!
