Many people have asked me 'How far can my puppy walk when I bring him home?' The answer is 'for every month of age, 5 minutes of normal walking'. This is the rule of thumb so no harm occurs in the skeletal system of your new pet. This does not mean playing outdoors with the pup happily chasing and romping because when they do this, they have the option of stopping, resting and then picking up the game. Typically, when you walk, it is a straight line and no breaks.
Please keep in mind that this is five minutes going and returning! Don't push your pet to go further or do more, pick it up and carry him or her home.
Words of wisdom for the health and welfare of your new fur-baby.
