CLARY X WYATT LITTER - WEEK FOUR

I forgot to check the weather last night and woke up to a rainy day.  Thankfully, it appears to be rather sporadic so I was able to get their pics outdoors under an umbrella.  :+)

These cherubs are finally beginning to act like little doggies.  Although they still sleep a lot, when up, they interact with each other and some of the toys.  They now bark and 'talk' to each other. All is going well with them eating gruel and mommy, Clary, comes in the morning to give them a snack and may return in the evenings to keep her comfortable.  She is with her guardians now because Daisy is taking care of all the other motherly duties.  I have begun my job of keeping the 'toilet' clean.

The pups have had their first experience of being out of their pup room pen and walking/crawling on the floor of the room to check it out.  I do this a couple of times a day so they become more familiar with a different environment.  As you know, they were also outside yesterday in my portable pen during the heat of the afternoon.  Outside stimuli will continue now that they are more mobile.  :+)

Green Boy weighs 4.4 lbs this week.  Look at those very blue eyes! They actually may stay as his 'cousin' has them.

Red Girl is 4 lbs and I swear is an English Labrador Retriever pup!  (She isn't.)

Lilac Girl is 3.10 lbs.  She and Pink are tracking to be the smaller pups in this litter.

Blue Boy is 4 lbs.  The first one to wag his tail.  :+)

Pink Girl weighs 3.10 lbs as well and has a bit of curiosity showing.  I believe she will be an Iced Caramel which means she will have brownish pigment and hazel eye color.  Given both her parents carry for brown,
I am not surprised a pup would have this color combination.

A young visitor and outdoors! (Clary x Wyatt)

Our grandson visited overnight and enjoyed the pups, even taking a 'short nap' with them in their pen yesterday.

Today, it was pretty warm and I thought the pups would enjoy being outdoors in the shade of our tree in the pup area.  I gave each of them a small spray of Wondercide to keep bugs away and they had a wonderful long nap outdoors.

They will be outdoors often now as long as the weather is good.  I want to introduce them gently, so am using my portable pen.  Very soon, I will bleach the stone area to kill any possible bacteria and put up the fencing for them to explore that full area.  It will be so nice to have pup buyers visit with the pups outdoors instead of the small pup room.

GUNNY & BOOMER'S LITTER ARE ONE WEEK OLD!

Funny, this morning I was catching up on emails when it hit me - OH MY!  I have pictures to do! With two litters here, it is easy to get caught up in lots of distractions.  Gunny is a caring and doting momma to her 8 babies.  During the next week, she will want more interactions with the other doodles and us.  It won't be long before her pups will be in a separate pen in the pup room.  Space will certainly become a bit crowded when that happens!

Still not much going on with the pups although they are truly learning to move around their pool area!  Gunny remains in the room most of the time - very close to be sure all is well.  A squeak results in an inspection.  :+)

These pics were taken outdoors this morning as it was warm and comfortable with no flash.  I think a number of the apricot colored pups will be caramels!  A caramel color notation is dependent on the color of the nose, paw pads and eyes.  The eye color is a green-hazel blend and their pigment is a brownish shade not black and very evident.  I won't know definitively for another couple of weeks but thought I would mention it.

Also, all these pups are spoken for and I have a guardian home for the one I may keep.  Thank you to everyone who sent in applications, deposits and inquiries!!  :+)

Rocky - male, Grey Collar

Sage - Female, green collar

Coral - Female, coral collar

Sky - Female, blue collar

Fudge - Male, brown collar

Coffee - Female, tan collar

Violet - Female, violet collar

Coal - Male, black/white collar

-----------------------------

On another front, we are working on Clary going home by the end of the weekend given Daisy insists on doing most of her duties.  Clary is smart and very happy for all the help.  The pups are also enjoying their gruel so all is falling into place much earlier than normal.  The good thing is Clary is so close, I can get her at any time if a necessity arises.  As long as Daisy is caring and socializing Clary's babies, that is what is most important.  Clary's guardians are beyond excited to have an early home coming for their special girl.  :+)

Down to the wire... UPDATE: BOTH ON HOLD.

I have two pups available in the GUNNY X BOOMER Litter.  One for a Guardian Home and the other for a pet.  Go home date is August 17th, no exceptions on the pick up date.

Please read my website and send in an application if you have any interest.

Important:
  • I do NOT know which pup is available yet as they are only four days old.  Assignments are made between 7 and 8 weeks.  They go home at 9 weeks.
  • Please read about 'assignments' under the Pup Prep Tab before inquiring.
  • At this time, I am leaning towards keeping a male for the guardianship.

Thank you!

CLARY X WYATT LITTER - 3 WEEKS!

Wow, are these pups ever robust!  Now that Daisy has 'claimed' herself to be their 'pacifier and diaper changer', Clary is off the hook for most of her duties except feeding them every now and again.  How lucky is she??

Watching how animals interact is an education in itself.  Of course, personalities are a huge component - it appears that Clary is just fine sharing duties and does not get upset or jealous of her babies suckling on Daisy.

Think, in a week's time visits begin.  As I have stated in all my other posts for litter visitations, the pups can be a bit shy, seemed scared or be quite amicable - depends on where each INDIVIDUAL pup is in their development.  Don't be disappointed if they are not wagging their tails or acting happy.  This is a HUGE learning curve for them.  As the weeks progress, you will see many changes.  :+)

They are beginning to mouth wrestle, walking a little unsteady but gaining better movement every day and have been introduced to some gruel.  Some have taken to it while others choose to pass.  All will be enjoying it soon.

Pics were taken in one of my large flower pots.  I think they are the prettiest flower in it.  :+)

Okay, my doodles are playing musical chairs.....

I went to visit with Clary's pups and this is what I found:

This is NOT Clary, it is Daisy.  Clary was in the room perfectly content to let Daisy cuddle with her pups.  If this is not proof positive that both these girls have AMAZING temperaments, I don't what will convince you!

Just adorable to see and what every breeder dreams about for a fabulous breeding female.

Look how big Clary's pups are getting!

Oh goodness, these babes are fat!  I literally have to use two hands to pick them up now - porkers!!

They do a lot of sleeping and they cuddle together like a furry rug.  They are just starting to wag their tails when they hear my voice.  :+)

Clary's sleepy heads.  :+)      (All sold)

Our first vet visit and car ride! GUNNY X BOOMER LITTER

A successful ride to the vets this morning!  The pups did great and Gunny, who is not generally a happy car rider, did well too.

Both mom and pups were examined and declared 'doing well' by Dr. LaPine.  I always remove any dew claws from my pups for grooming convenience as well as safety from getting them snagged on brush when outdoors.  There are lots of reasons not to do them as well.  You can research the pros and cons on Google.  :+)

For the safety of the pups and mom, I wait in the car until they have a room ready.  I then carry mom in while a vet tech carries the pups in a soft carrier I have.  This way there is no exposure to any of them from any dog in the waiting room that may be ill or contaminated.  The pups are whisked to the surgical area for dew claw removal while the mom is on a cleaned table waiting for her exam.  Then we carry all of them back to my car.  The pups are way too young to be able to fight any kind of germs, so I prevent exposure.

When I get back home, I keep them in the car until I change the bedding in the whelping box and all come to a clean and fresh area.

GUNNY X BOOMER - list of birth sequence and ID's

I thought a list of the pups' IDs and weights might interest some of you.

When a girl is whelping, you don't have much time to spend on thinking of ID descriptors.  Clary's litter has the typical 'collar color' IDs and since duplicating the same thing will confuse me, I strive to eliminate confusion!!  :+)

Hence, I decided to be a bit more 'dramatic' and use synonyms of colors for this group.  Listed by time of birth and weight.  I like to be creative.  :+)

  1.   Sage - Female is apricot in color and was the firstborn at 4:49 pm and weighed 7  1/2 ounces.
  2.   Fudge - Male is chocolate and appeared at 5:46 pm and was the biggest pup at 9  1/8 ounces.
  3.   Rocky - Male is apricot and has a grey collar the color of most rocks.   Born at 6 pm and            weighed 5  5/8 ounces, the smallest male!
  4.   Coral - Female arrived at 6:39 pm and weighed 7  1/4 ounces.  She is apricot in color.
  5.   Sky - Female is apricot and presented herself at 7 pm.  Smallest one in the litter at 5  1/2 ozs.
  6.   Violet - Female was born at 7:18 and is a luscious chocolate.  She weighed 6  3/8 ounces.
  7.   Coal  - Male.  Like his descriptor, he is black with dashes of white on his chin, chest and back     toes.  Coal arrived at 7:54 pm and weighed 6  5/8 ounces.
  8.   Coffee - Female.  I should have had some because I almost missed her!  I noticed a pup without a collar and did another count!  Gunny had gotten up to move around a bit and I            decided to change the bedding and there she was still a bit wet.  Best guess is she arrived around 8:32 pm and weighed 6  5/8 ounces.  Always a surprise.  :+)
Next Wednesday, when they turn one week old, I will post individual pictures of them.  Since I do not have confirmation on the applications yet in my file - I am taking additional applications at this time.

UPDATE THIS MORNING ON THE GUNNY X BOOMER LITTER!

We have both recovered with aplomb from yesterday's whelping.  Gunny had breakfast and the little rascals are vying for their favorite milking bottles on Gunny.  :+). I hear little squeaks as they settle in for a feeding.  I can't believe Gunny produced eight of them with only one breeding to Boomer!

I am sure all of you are awaiting picture(s) of these little gems, so enjoy!

Gunny is an attentive mom and cleans and licks them constantly.

What a lovely assortment of colors!

So tiny compared to Clary's litter of mediums.

Just be aware that the chocolate pups could dilute to cafe, so please do not expect them to be a dark brown at maturity.  Gunny has lightened up some, so more than likely, they will as well!

GUNNY is whelping!

She sure has been uncomfortable and cranky today but has finally settled down to business.  Hopefully, I will be in bed by midnight - fingers crossed!

We are finished and Gunny had EIGHT little darlings.  Update tomorrow after I have had a night's sleep!

CLARY X WYATT LITTER - WEEK TWO!

Other than eating and sleeping the pups don't do much.  A couple of them are just beginning to open their eyes but most are still closed.  They are all gaining weight beautifully and truly look like little piglets!  :+)

Clary continues to be a good mother but is also getting some family time with her guardians now that she can leave the pups for a couple of hours.  It is wonderful when your guardian is less than ten minutes away and can dote on their girl for a bit!  It also gives Clary a nice break from her duties.

Lilac Girl is the smallest but not by much!  1 lb. 14 ounces.  She is not interested in looking at the world yet.
Lilac will have a curly coat that is non shedding but will require scheduled grooming appointments.
Mr. Blue Boy also wants to keep his eyes shut for a while longer!  2 lb
Blue will have a curly coat that is non shedding but will require scheduled grooming appointments.
Green Boy has opened his peepers but vision is still a bit fuzzy.   He weighs 2 lbs. as well.
Green will have a curly coat that is non shedding but will require scheduled grooming appointments.
Pink Girl is willing to check out the world!  2 lbs.
Pink will have a curly coat that is non shedding but will require scheduled grooming appointments.
I think Red Girl is enjoying the fresh air!  2 lbs.
She may have a slightly shedding coat.  This will be a very easy coat to maintain and will be great
for hikers or active people that prefer an easy to care for coated doodle.

GUNNY'S x-ray. Pic of Gunny.

I was pleasantly surprised when I was at the vet for Gunny's x-ray and her weight was 31 lbs.  Now, Gunny is normally around 22 lbs.  She is small but sturdy.  That gave me a hint at the possible number of pups.  She is also quite round and the vet tech made a comment about that.  When we all looked at the x-ray, I counted eight and the vet felt for sure seven but agreed there could be an eighth one tucked up in the 'ball' of spines and heads' on the left horn.  I guess we will all find out in about a week!

This just may open up a couple more applications but I am going to wait for the actual whelp before I open up her list again.  I might want to keep one or two back for guardian homes.

Gunny's belly is pretty full!

I took a break from doodles to capture...

the lovely Japonica Primroses in the front of my house.  My favorite Spring flowers are the Tree Peony (not shown) and these lovely 'bursts' of color Primrose.  Both are 'desserts' for the eyes and nose!  :+)   Ahhhhhhhh......

THE CLARY X WYATT LITTER HAS BEEN MOVED TO THE PUP ROOM.

Lots of light, more room, nice breezes and kitchen noises await these babes when their eyes and ears open in a few more days.

My other girls go through this room to use the dogie door as well, so they will be exposed to other dog smells other than their mom.  Clary has an easy going temperament and is not upset when the girls go through and once in a while peek at the pups.  Willis is already dropping Carl's old socks into their area - her way of 'sharing'.  :+)

The pups also had their second car ride today.  Their third one will be tomorrow on Day 10.  This 'positive association with car motion' within 10 days of birth seemed to really work with Elsie's litter - not a one had motion sickness and they were carted all over the place for vet visits.

Early Neurological Stimulation exercises will continue for another week or so.

They are still in the same whelping pool.  You don't want to make too many changes at once.

Clary is happiest if her Monkey is with her babies.  Every now and again, she grabs it and takes it 'for a walk'.

All content and comfortable.
Notice the little pillow on the left? It came with Clary from her guardians.   I typically find Clary sitting atop of it.   :+)

CLARY X WYATT - WEEK #1 PICS!

Although it has been a very busy few weeks, Clary and her crew have been snuggled away from it all in my office.  In the first week especially, a new mom needs lots of rest and to pay attention to her newborns and not worry about anything else.

My plan is to move them soon to the Pup Room after it has been thoroughly cleaned and steamed.  It will be nice for Clary to have access to her pups but be able to come out and socialize at will.  Clary is very friendly to the other doodles so I think she will welcome the sunshine and space.  I do have to train her to use the dogie door which will probably take a week.  Seems they always forget they did know how to use it before they went to their guardians!

Blue Boy - 1.3 lbs.

Our local 'Panda Bear'!  Green Boy - 1.4 lbs.
Lilac Girl - 1.2 lbs.

Pink Girl - 1.3 lbs.

This lady is the heavyweight - 1.5 lbs

THE ELSIE X DUCKIE LITTER GO HOME.

The day has finally arrived and Maggie Mae, Buzz, Onyx, Gretel and Rosie will go on a new adventure with their families!

Although they leave the ADNE nest today, I am sure they will totally enjoy their new home with so many new adventures waiting for them there.

Denim Dude aka 'Levi' went home a week earlier than the others.  Hopefully, he will be a quality stud for his breeder.
Buzz goes home with the Peterson Family.

Ed and Joan welcome Maggie Mae to their home.

Rosie Shea won't be living too far from her first home.

ADNE Spirit of Onyx is with her guardians - Susan and Alan.

Shilo is living the life with her retired owners.

Most of this litter's pups that attended the Group Pick Up Day meeting!!

Now that you are all home and getting to know your new pup; be aware your first couple of night's home may be a bit sleepless while they adjust.  Read about crate training and sleep schedules on the Pup Prep link!!

I look forward to pics and adventures.  :+)
