I took him to my vet for an assessment and Dr. Lowe said his cleft was too severe for any type of surgery. With a heavy heart and lots of tears, I asked Dr. Lowe to gently assist his flight to a peaceful spot in the heavens. It has been a tough day.
We are so sad about the loss of Gabriel. Forgot how to comment on AnnaBlog, although I read it constantly.
Joyce, you are the most compassionate animal lover God has created. We are blessed that Gabriel came so briefly into all of our lives but had to move beyond us into Eternity. You and your magnificent vet remind us how fleeting life is and we treasure the gifts you bring to so many Annabelle Doodle lovers.
We love you so much for how you bring joy to our lives.
You may post this as a comment as I did not know how. Our life in Boston and 'Sconset (Nantucket) is enriched by Harriet's daughter Beatrix Potter. God and Beatrix remind us daily of God's work in our lives to love one another.
We are so sorry for your loss. What a difficult decision you had to make. As many before have posted, you are a remarkable person and doodle breeder. You have the utmost concern for the dogs' well being, from beginning to end. Our thoughts and prayers are with all of you. Diane, Roger and Stella
All of us here, especially Lila, have been practically holding our breath, waiting to hear the outcome of the visit to Dr. Lowe. We could see what a fighter Gabriel was, and were rooting so hard for his prognosis to be different than this. Our hearts go out to you, and to Olive, who must surely be wondering where her baby is. I'm so glad you posted the photos of this precious boy. Thank you for giving him every chance. You are a breed apart.
Dear Joyce, We are so sorry for your loss. Gabriel was truly a little angel and we cannot imagine how difficult a day it was for you, Dr. Lowe and Olive. Your pups just light up everyone's lives, as is so apparent from the many postings on your blog. It is hard for us to remember what it was like before Brewster. Give Olive an extra big hug from all of us. The Kellys
I'm so sorry. I really was cheering for the little guy and hoping that he could beat the odds. You tried so hard.... I miss him and I never even met him. He was a beautiful little guy who touched me.
I'm so sorry Joyce. He was a beautiful little guy.
ReplyDeleteIt was so sad because he just would not give up, and neither could I seeing how valiantly he fought to live.
ReplyDeleteThe diagnosis was a severe blow.
