Olive & Cori's litter is 4 weeks old tomorrow!

With visitors coming both days this weekend, I felt that it would be better to get their pics up today. I did not think anyone would complain.

These pups are really getting the hang of the feed dish and there is less 'oatmeal' footprints being tracked back to the crate. We have tried three different potty type containers, trying to find the one they prefer using as 'the bathroom' rather than a 'sleeping area'. Happens all the time, but I keep taking them out and putting them back on the cushion or stuffed animal. I know the potty areas are being used - but so is the floor, cushion, toys, etc. They will get it eventually. We must all remember they are still babies. :+)

They do have periods of playing. It is brief, but that will expand as they grow. Sizes are beginning to take shape. I believe, Orange Boy, Rose and Rainbow Girls will fall in Coriander's category while the others seem to favor Olive's size. Time will tell. The pups like to be held and are very good about getting their eyes trimmed. Hopefully, that will continue to be something they tolerate well.

They are seeing better but still frightened of sharp or loud noises - so children visiting must be gentle and use 'inside voices' please! :+)

For this photo shoot, I placed them in a green wagon I usually have a pile of toys in. It contained them well and kept them safe but there is a bit of a 'greenish haze' in some areas of the pics.

The coats on these pups are full and will be wonderful to groom. They will grow quickly, so please be sure to get them use to brushing so that your groomer will be happy to see them and your doodle will have a pleasant experience.

I adore the lovely wide heads, nicely spaced eyes and soft expressions. :+)

Orange Boy - 3 & 1/4 lbs.

Blue Boy - 4 lbs.

Fudge Girl - 4 lbs.

Black Boy - 4 & 1/8 lbs.

Rainbow Girl - 3 & 1/8 lbs.

Rose Girl - 3 & 1/4 lbs.

Teal Boy - 3 & 3/4 lbs.

  2. I can't believe they are getting so big already myself!

Are you crossing off the days till you pick up your guy??? :+)

  3. Crossing off the days, and cleaning up and out the whole house - re-arranging how the toys are stored, making sure there are no little things within his reach that he can consume; installing the gates in the kitchen; shopping for just the right bed; talking with our organic meat man about supplies for the raw diet, and on and on! This has all become very real, and there are smiles all around that he'll be home with us so soon :-)

  4. I have been working hard on the 'sit' command as I feel it is the very first word he should hear. He will learn his name quickly and it should be followed by the word 'sit'. This way, you direct him to do something for you instantly. It makes him focus instead of jumping, leaping, grabbing, etc. So, start training the family that this is the ONE word that should come out naturally every single time you see him and ask him to 'sit' even before touching. The rewards will be great. Trust me. :+)

  5. Great advice, Joyce. I think I'll start practicing by doing this with the girls lol!

I think Lila and Pippa will catch onto this quickly. They are both determined to be good, responsible dog owners, especially as they want to take him EVERYWHERE possible with us, and the only way to accomplish this, IMO, is if we help him learn ways that make him welcome wherever we go. Any and all advice you have toward that end will be greatly appreciated :-)

  6. Joyce, what another gorgeous litter from Miss Olive! I am sure all of your adoptive families know how great your dogs are with children, but we cannot say enough about our guy and his behavior around our children who are both quite young. He is just amazing with them and we included the girls in on all of our training from day one which I think makes a huge difference. Also, Brewster learned very quickly that the girls toys (especially baby dolls:-) were not his playthings. With a simple "Uh-uh" he understood immediately - such the smart guy:-) We also made sure our girls took turns feeding him just about every meal for the first two weeks. Any family who gets one of your puppies is just so lucky! Hope you are surviving all this snow - Brewster and the girls love it - my house is now a swimming pool! Amy:-)

  7. What a nice post, Amy! You give me too much credit! Owners are what make a great pup with consistent training and lots of patience and love! Doodles are easy to spoil and it is sometimes very difficult to be firm for their own good! They are way too smart and need excellent parameters just like children. If you raise a stable child, you will always have a great pet. :+)

I don't sell to many families with small children as I always feel raising a pup well is very difficult when you are being pulled in many directions. Exceptions are always made when the right family comes along, so consider yourself an 'exception'!! :+)
