I ended up getting them around 5:30 as Miss Coral Anne needed to eat before they released the pups. She was the last one done and needed more recovery time. Poor little one is still zapped out. She did eat a bit but for the most part is resting. Herbie and Thaddeus were making such a racket barking at each other that I added Herbie to their pen. The threesome - Thad/Herbie and Demi are happy (and quiet) now. Coral Anne, Rosie and Bailey are now settled in their area. All did eat a bit and I am sure will be ravenous tomorrow morning.
It will definitely be noisy around here for the next few days as they will need to have their activity curtailed during early healing. It is advised that you keep them on the low end of activity until the 10th day after the surgery - so, September 15th. Once fully healed, they are ready to rock and roll. Actually, they feel really good sooner but you want to be sure the internal healing is solid.
When you pick them up, please have your crate in the car, clean up stuff, a stuffed Kong with kibble and a bit of cream cheese mixed with it and frozen (for lunch) and someone with you to tend to the pup in the back seat if you are more than an hour away. Don't forget your Snuggle Puppy!
I will provide you with a leash, collar and harness as well as toys.
UPDATE: This morning (Thurs.), all woke up hungry and ready to play. Their play area has been reduced to minimize how far they can be outdoors. They are only allowed in the ramp area and one paved area. In this way, they cannot run full throttle but can still be outdoors. I also have been feeding them FROMM PUPPY GOLD. They will be transitioned to this food by the time you pick them up on Sunday. It has decent ingredients and is a small kibble which they are eating just fine with. Those of you who wish to continue the raw diet will be fine with just adding it to the kibble until you are feeding a full serving of raw over five days. I found this kibble at Pet Life in Sanford, Me. but I think most quality pet food stores carry it.
At this very moment, they are playing 'peek a boo' under the ramp and making a racket at 6:49 am. I sure hope my neighbors are already up! :+)
