WEEK 2!! BRINKLEY X EMMETT LITTER

The second week has been terrific with the pups finally opening their eyes right on schedule.  They are still a bit 'cloudy' and certainly can't see clearly yet but in a few days both their eyes and ears will be fully functioning.

Soon, the pups will be moved to the pup room where there will be sunshine to enjoy and a brighter environment to adjust to.  It will take Brinkley a few hours to figure out that her babies are no longer under my desk but in their new spot.  All my moms do this.  Once they know, the pups are staying put, they relax once again and continue their duties.  :+)

The pups are gaining beautifully with a couple already 2 lbs!  Brinkley is eating well and the puppies are certainly benefitting from her rich milk.  :+)

Red Male is 1 lb. 15 ounces at 2 weeks.

Blue Male is 1 lb., 11 ounces.

Pink Girl is 1 lb., 9 ounces.

Purple Girl is 2 lbs.

Ebony Girl sporting a white 'collar' weighs 1 lb., 14 ounces.

Green Male is 2 lbs.

Orange Male is 1 lb., 12 ounces.

Elsie x Hobbs mating on the agenda!

I have made a switch and decided when Elsie comes into her season, she will be bred with Hobbs.  This will produce a miniature litter of pups under 25 lbs. at maturity.

Both parents are social, non shedding, smart and well tested.  You can read all about them both under the Breeders tab on my website.

At this time, I have a full folder of applicants for this litter.  However, I don't count my chickens until they hatch, and will need to confirm all those that were interested.  If any have fallen off, I will go back to my applicants on the Wait List.

Certainly, I am hoping for a delivery before Christmas with a go home date APPROXIMATELY in February is my very best guess.  All timing is dependent on when Elsie is ready to be bred, that she carries a litter and whelps healthy puppies.

Hobb`s favorite place is in someone`s arms.

A milestone - ONE WEEK OLD!

What a great week it has been.  Brinkley is doing an awesome job feeding her group and they are all thriving.  Thankfully, Brinkley LOVES raw chicken necks and is eating them up like candy!  They are so nutritious for her and produce a wonderful milk supply.

A heating pad is in the whelping box, on low, so when mommy is not there 'warmth' is.  I find the pups move away or towards it depending on their needs.  Brinkley enjoys being outdoors with the other girls for a little bit but is always back at the door wanting to come in to check on her babies.  :+)

Here are the one week pics with weights:

Enjoy these little munchkin pics because they will change so much as the weeks progress!

We had our first car ride to the vets.

Today, pups and mommy went to see Dr. Kelleher.  Brinkley has her maternal check up and the pups had their dew claws removed and were checked over including looking for cleft palates.  They all passed with flying colors!

Brinkley could not stop smiling once her babies were back with her.  :+)

Brinkley is done, I believe!

Once all is over and cleaned up, I will update.  It will take a while!  :+)

Brinkley delivered 7 brand spanking new puppies and once I catch my breathe and eat something, I will take a pic and post.  :+)

Not the best of pics but it will get better as they grow!

I numbered them because blacks just seem to not have any 'borders'!
we have four blacks, one chocolate and two apricots.

Pink, Purple and Ebony are the females.  Blue, Green, Red and Orange are males.  :+)

Tomorrow Brinkley gets a quick shower to clean her legs, backend and tail.  She is a dutiful mommy.  I will sleep on the couch tonight just to make sure all is well.

Maternity Groom!

In preparation for Brinkley's upcoming litter, I groomed her today.  Did all the necessary trims to help  make the whelp as comfortable and sanitary as possible.

Brinkley is an excellent client and was very patient.  :+)

Olive Oyl was very sympathetic to Brinkley, she doesn't know she is next.  You can't find Olive's face because both 'ends' are similar at the moment.  :+)

Brinkley had her x-ray this morning!

I am so delighted she appears to be having 6 or possibly 7 puppies!  Her x-ray is hard to read because some of it looks a bit like spaghetti.

Take a look for yourself:

I believe we can see six easily but there could be a seventh in there!

Brinkley fell into our pack here at home with a big welcome from her mommy, Daisy.  The others just gave a sniff or two and said, 'here we go again'!

She has some lunch and is lying here on the floor as I type.  She is very well mannered and super, super sweet. :+)

Now we wait for her to decide on her babies' birthday.  Until then, Brinkley is enjoying all the fur company she has and will watch tv with Carl and I and be coddled and cared for like all ADNE moms are.

The joys (and labors) of a bountiful garden!

Ah, the fruits of summer. The delicious smell of spaghetti sauce simmering on the stove from the wonderful batch of fresh tomatoes prepared by my dear husband and daughter. Boy does fresh and homegrown make a difference! The garlic, basil, parsley, "lunchbox' peppers and homemade pork sausages along with some sweet onions just makes my mouth water. I am blessed that our daughter makes the trip down here almost weekly with our grandson to pick and prepare the bountiful gardens that continue to produce their treasures.

Hope others are enjoying these same tantilizing aromas! It truly is a labor of love but the benefits....can't put a price on it. :+)
