We have an x-ray for Ms. Sadie Benz to share today!

Under a gorgeous blue sky, I met Sadie and her guardian at my vets.  I am happy to report that the x-ray shows six healthy looking puppies!  Congrats Sadie x Boomer!

Sadie will be coming to me on Friday for her stay and we are expecting puppies on Monday if the charts are correct.

I have to confirm with my applications but I do believe this litter is spoken for.  Of course, I will update once I have confirmations. After checking with my applicants, we have availability!!  Please fill out an application from my website if interested.  Thank you.  :+)

JONNIE x DUCKIE - WEEK 4

Oh boy has this week been fun to observe the growth of the pups!  They have had some 'free time' on the pads that are on the tile floor and I watch them wiggle here and there.  I don't want them on the tile yet, as their foot pads lack traction and they slip.

Now that they recognize my voice, I get a bunch of wagging tails when I am with them.  They are beginning to play with each other for very short periods but still nap most of the day.

I continue to offer a bowl of milk gruel twice a day - morning and evening and they are lapping it up but not eagerly.  Soon, that bowl will become 'the be all to end all' and once that happens, I begin to reduce Jonnie's portions and increase theirs for the eventual weaning process.

Now is the time to contact me about visiting the pups.  I am available most days and weekends. You are limited to about a half hour with them as they tire easily.  Once pups are settled back in their pen, I am happy to answer your questions in the kitchen area.  Our adult doodles would definitely enjoy your company and attention as we talk.  I limit each day to only three visits.  Shoes need to be left at the door and hands washed.  PLEASE make it a direct route from your house to mine.  Any place you stop at can be a health issue to the pups as they have no immunity at this young age.

JONNIE X DUCKIE - WEEK 3!

Jonnie and the pups are all settled in now.  The third week is always the beginning of the pups recognizing their environment and each other.  Several times now, I see them 'mouth wrestling' with each other - it is beyond adorable. They are also beginning to vocalize when they see Jonnie - especially for the first feeding in the morning!!  After a large breakfast, Jonnie is happy to fill their bellies with nutritious milk.  Then they literally pass out for a long nap.

Hooray for Jonnie - she has finally figured out that the pup door 'swings both ways'!!  She happily goes out now for some sunshine and potty needs.  She barks at my neighbors along with my pack and I have to call everyone in.  I respect my neighbors and don't like annoying barking myself.

Numerous times I also let them all out the front door to 'watch' what is going on across  the street.  It is like television to them.  The town workers come and go with a pack of doodles letting them know they are being 'supervised'.  If a jogger goes by, that is like a Budweiser commercial at the Super Bowl - remember those???  They love it - all of them go into overdrive - poor jogger.  However, I don't discourage that as they are 'alerting' us someone is near.

Hopefully, I will start to introduce gruel to the pups during the week.  Usually, around three and a half weeks, the pups are ready for something more substantial than milk.  They are growing like crazy now and becoming more alert and active.  A potty box will also be introduced for initial potty training.  I should have developmental news for the four week update.  :+)

Pink is the smallest pup in the litter.  Probably will be around 17 lbs. like her dad, Duckie.

Green Boy's coloring is really popping!

I had to wake up Coal Boy to take his pic.  I think he is annoyed.  

Teal Girl just settled right in for her photo shoot.  Thank you, Teal!

Violet's eyebrows are beginning to really turn silvery - so cute!

Blue Boy was the first to wag his tail at my voice.  :+)

We have moved to the Pup Room! (Jonnie x Duckie)

I spent most of this past week getting the Pup Room ready for Jonnie's pups.  On Friday, we made the switch and the pups did really well.  Jonnie seems happy to have a bit more room and lots of sunlight.  She is s l o w l y learning to use the dogie door.  She has no problem using it to come in but still not quite sure that you can use it to get out too!!  Always a learning curve.  :+)

Just before three weeks of age has always been my magical number for putting pups there.  They should have sunlight and be in the area where they will continue to develop full eye sight and begin exploration. The THIRD week of life is the first critical period - a time when they begin their first lessons on behavior.  Under the Pup Prep Tab is a link to this study and I urge all pup buyers to read it.

This area will continue to evolve as they grow using different toys, 'busy' blankets, learning potty manners and exercising their bodies.  Eventually, they will go outdoors to the Pup Yard.  :+)

I added some furry friends to provide 'snuggy time' when momma is not there.

Jonnie has her own bed when she needs some time off.

Sometimes all you need is sibling snuggles.  :+)

I love it when pups begin sleeping 'upside-down'!

JONNIE X DUCKIE - WEEK 2! A picture update!!

UPDATE:  I was not happy with my first group of pics, so today I put up a new set.

I can hardly believe this group is a two full weeks!  This coming week, I will be moving them to the Puppy Room once I have it all cleaned up.  That is always a big event that I enjoy doing.  At first they will be quite unhappy but will acclimate quickly.

Eyes are beginning to open now and Coal Boy was the first to take a peek at his surroundings.  They really can't see much; but each day their eyes get more and more clear which is the biggest reason I want them in the Pup Room sooner rather than later.  It is best they be in their permanent location as they 'explore' the world for the first time.  Plus, this room gets lots of sunlight which is a great source of Vitamin D!

Jonnie continues to be a doting momma and still gives poor Harriet Potter the 'stink eye' when Harriet haphazardly stumbles too close to the door.  Harriet is pretty much blind and deaf but her nose works perfectly and Jonnie always has goodies in her bowl that Harriet would love to eat.  Hence, the numerous mumbles from Jonnie.

Although these are minis, you would not know it by their fat bellies!  :+). Be sure to click the pics to make them bigger to enjoy.  :+)

Teal Girl has minimal Phantom markings. She will appear mostly black.

Pink Girl is nearly solid chocolate.  There are some 'ghost' markings of Phantom.  She will also be very curly.

Rose Girl is a well marked Phantom with Abstract splashes of white.
She is chocolate and tan and will look very similar to her daddy, Duckie.

Happily taking a nap, Blue Boy is the heavy weight in the litter.  Not sure yet if he will be a caramel or a cream.
 He does have some white markings. 

Violet Girl is a black and tan lightly marked Phantom Abstract.

Another chocolate and tan Phantom Abstract (white splashes) who will look just like Duckie. 
Green Boy and Rose Girl could be bookends!

Coal Boy - 1.9 lbs. Looks like an Orca whale!  He has the largest splash of white in the group. 
He is a solid black and white  Abstract.

Update on Sadie.

I contacted Sadie's guardian to see how she was doing and she told me that her appetite is improving, she always wants to cuddle and playing ball does this to her:

Normally, Sadie can never have enough ball time but being pregnant just poops her out! Do you see where her ball is?  :+)

JONNIE X DUCKIE LITTER - ONE WEEK!

Yes, the day has finally come to show off Jonnie's litter with individual pics of the pups.  I know many of you have been waiting patiently.

Jonnie and pups have been doing very, very well.  The pups gain weight every day and are plumb and happy.  Their space in my office remains a quiet sanctuary for them and momma.  Although Jonnie is quite social when not nursing, she remains 'parked' at the door to warn any of the other doodles 'Do Not Enter'!

Every morning, Jonnie does leave her brood to come upstairs to wake me up promptly at 6 am for her breakfast.  I think she has an alarm clock built in.  All the doodles sleep in our bedroom, so I am able to leave the office door open a bit so Jonnie has the choice of visiting and sleeping on the bed for a short time until she hears her babies call her for another feeding.  None of the other adults mind her visits.  :+)
