How big are the pups?

I received a request to try and show a comparison of the pups with something so you could gauge their size. The empty TOM TOM box looked like a good candidate so this is what I used. It is a perfect 7 inches by 7 inches.

It is not easy to take a perfect shoot with me holding the camara, keeping the pup safe and clicking, but I hope you will get some idea. :+)

Please note all measurements are taken at the top of the back of the neck and from the tip of the nose to the end of the rump (not including the length of the tail. (measurements are NOT exact!)

Parti Girl 5 inches tall and 9 1/2 inches long.

Blue Boy - 7 inches tall and 11 3/4 inches long.

This chocolate fella does have a color collar - it is turquoise, but it still does not fit him! :+) He is 5 1/2 inches tall and 9 1/4 inches long.

Red Girl - is 6 1/2 inches tall and 10 inches long.

Green Boy is 6 3/4 inches tall and 11 inches long.

Yellow Girl is 6 3/4 inches tall and 11 inches long.

Silver Boy is 6 3/4 inches tall and 11 inches long.

Pink Girl is 6 3/4 inches tall and 10 1/4 inches long.

Neon Girl is 5 1/2 inches tall and 10 inches long.

Color collars just finished!

I know they are still a bit small, but the color code collars should help you identify the pups better. It sure does for me!!

Here is the lowdown:
  • PINK WAS #1
  • GREEN WAS #2
  • PARTI WAS #3
  • NEON WAS #4
  • RED WAS #5
  • YELLOW WAS #6
  • BLUE WAS #7
  • SILVER WAS #8
  • TURQUOISE WAS #9
The puppy room is now air conditioned because this heat is really a bit much! The shades are also drawn to keep the sun from blaring in as well.

Did you noticed the 'potty area' is being used! It is utterly amazing to me that 3 week old pups will seek this area. Children should be so easy to train, huh?

The amazing third week of life.

Greetings!

So much happens between the second and third week. I typically begin thinking of moving the pups and setting up different configurations to accommodate the constant changes of the litter. Initially, they start off in the pool until the development of the pups show me they are ready for a 'new space'.

They are starting to move pretty readily now and needed to have their 'living room' and 'bathroom' designations.

Once they are done nursing with Harriet, they really try to wobble to their bathroom area. As shown, some stay napping and others partake of the milk. :+)

It seems no one is sleeping when their 'gourmet' meals are prepared and served. They are really into our Simply Poultry and formula mix.

No matter which meal they enjoy the most, their contentment shows. :+)

Let's begin with some small group pics of the darlings along with their weights beginning with
#3 parti girl at 1.12 lbs. and #4 black girl at 1.13 lbs.

Black pigment girl #5 is 2.5 lbs. and #6 girl with liver pigment is 1.14 lbs.

The surprise buff and chalk parti girl has liver pigment and is 2 lbs. even.

Talk about a size difference - #7 male is 2.9 lbs. and his chocolate brother is 1.10 lbs.

This duo is black #8 at 2.6 lbs. and light cream/liver pigment #2 at 2.8 lbs. Good size boys!

We are beginning to see and hear the world around us.

Hello,

Some new discoveries for the pups and me! First of all, I have realized that this chalk girl is actually a 'parti' ! Can you see the faint tint of pale apricot on her ear? It will always be faint but it will also spread as she grows. She will definitely have hazel eyes and liver pigment as well. A very interesting combination. :+)

This guy appears to be more into viewing his surroundings then his siblings.

In another week, these guys will be sleeping less and observing more. What an adorable face on this pup!

The two partis side by side. How can two be so different yet so alike??

Looks like some secrets are being passed around.

There is always a pile of sleepyheads. Some use each other for support, others.......

are more creative. And some .....

like being different. :+)

What is nutritious and sticky all over?

Well, it is called Natural Rearing Tree's Bark Gruel! It is our puppies first food after mom's milk. Of course it is all organic and highly nutritious. I thought I would introduce them to it to see if they were ready. I think you can form your own opinions. :+)

They were all asleep as I prepared their dish. Shhhhhh..........

I decided to use a cupcake pan so that they could each have their own 'placemat'. HA! It appears the aroma has tickled some noses!!!

#1 female is quite interested and has decided to be the first 'taste tester'. Oh boy......

She must have given it a great score because look who is interested now!!

Hey, let's share! Is there enough to go around???

It appears that there are many spots that need some extra licking besides the cupcake pan. Take note of parti girls head - I think she did a 'header'.

Yum! This is GOOD stuff!

BURP! This is a very satisfied look, don't you agree?

Even in the dogs' world, moms are cleaning up after their messy children. :+)

We are Two Weeks today!

Hi,

It sure seems like a long two weeks. :+) Here are some individual shots of the group. You can see that they are filling out and some of them are even beginning to open their eyes. Most are still in the 'squinting' stage. I am hearing noises that are very similar to a bark and body movement is getting better. I have included their weights with the pics.

#3 Parti Girl (TESSIE) looks very pretty in red, don't you think? She is 1.5 lbs.

#5 Female (MOLLY) may have a future in duck hunting. I believe that is a smile I see on her face! (1.10 lbs.)

#6 Female (BAILEY) is just about as big as the stuffed bee she is cuddling with. (1.6 lbs.)

#9 Male (KOBIE) is quite relaxed on his pillow. He might grow up to be a couch potato! (1.4 lbs.)

#7 Male (DUFFY) is one of the larger pups and is snuggling with an elephant - no correlation. :+) (1.14 lbs.)

#4 Female (LOLA) is squinting her eyes shut! I swear she looks like she bit into a lemon! (1.6 lbs.)

#2 Male (CHARLIE) seems quite adept at finding a comfy spot on this tiger. (1.12 lbs.)

#8 Male. (OZZIE) I should have used a female with this prop. Doesn't it remind you of 'Little Miss Muffet sitting on a Tuffet?? (1.14 lbs.)

#1 Female (DAISY) still is so bright. Even against the straw color of the seat, she shines! (1.8 lbs.)

Finally PICS!

A camara catastrophe has prevented my normal updates but fortunately, my son stopped by today and we bought another camara and are in business once again. :+)
Thank you buckets, Jacob!!

Here is Harriet attending to the pups this past week. She is doing so much better.

As you can see, they love to 'huddle'. :+)

Today, I actually moved them from my office to the Puppy Room. I decided to do this prior to them opening their eyes. Both eyes and ears are still shut. Their noses, however, are very sharp and they can smell their mommy for breakfast, lunch or dinner!

Yep, Harriet is feeling quite smug these days. :+)
