GUNNY x LIL' ABNER LITTER GO HOME!

Trust me, I jumped out of bed very early this morning as it was Puppy Pick Up Day and I had a ton of stuff still to do....like give six puppies a bath - first thing!  Then go over and over the paperwork booklets in hopes I did not forget anything. Quickly, I set up my dining area for our puppy seminar  just about making it for the 10:30 arrival of the pup parents!  Whew.

We all chatted for a bit as everyone found their puppy and enjoyed mingling and exchanging information. Then the children and pups went into the pup room/outdoor area as parents settled and I went through their booklet and answered questions.

Finally, it was picture taking time!

Herbie with his new human friend, Joe.

Sweet Rosie joins the Barris family.

I bet Bailey will be chasing soccer balls soon, right Jack?
Thank you Kathy for all your supervisory help this morning!

The McAteers welcome Coral Anne!

Serena and David will totally enjoy the antics of Demi Tasse! Will you teach her to pedal her own bike?

Paul and Thaddeus Dood will be frequent patrons of the various pet friendly coffee shops in their town. :+)

Hopefully, the trip home for everyone was uneventful. Just remember that they have left the only home they know and always had their siblings for comfort. Be patient and loving. Each pup will need time for bonding and acclimating to you and their new environment. You have been waiting a long time for your new furry companion. Enjoy the ride!

Bye, bye! What a TERRIFIC group!  :+)

Crate Intro for Gunny's litter.

First, I don't claim to do crate training; however, I do like to place small crates in their space with the doors open for exploration. Most times, they choose to sleep in them. This just gives them an introduction to what a crate is and that it is not their enemy.

When you get your pup home, be sure to put really wonderful treats (cooked chicken, beef, etc) into the crate and leave the door open so they go in, eat it and get out. Feed them in their crate, again with the door open. Eventually, your pup will agree that a crate is a 'good' place.

On the left, hogging the entire crate is Herbie. In the middle, Thaddeus is sandwiched with Coral Anne on the left and Bailey on the right. Lastly, Demi Tasse and Rosie are comfortably content.

They are surrounded with a wire X-pen that has a door in it so I can easily keep them in that space as necessary. They take naps in this space during the day when not playing outdoors.

Tonight and tomorrow night, it will be their choice to sleep in the crates or on the floor. I do have a small litter box in the space for them to use so I do not have to be awakened at 5 am in the morning for a potty break.  :+)

GUNNY X ABNER's litter are home and settled. The morning after..... UPDATE

I ended up getting them around 5:30 as Miss Coral Anne needed to eat before they released the pups. She was the last one done and needed more recovery time. Poor little one is still zapped out. She did eat a bit but for the most part is resting. Herbie and Thaddeus were making such a racket barking at each other that I added Herbie to their pen. The threesome - Thad/Herbie and Demi are happy (and quiet) now. Coral Anne, Rosie and Bailey are now settled in their area. All did eat a bit and I am sure will be ravenous tomorrow morning.

It will definitely be noisy around here for the next few days as they will need to have their activity curtailed during early healing. It is advised that you keep them on the low end of activity until the 10th day after the surgery - so, September 15th. Once fully healed, they are ready to rock and roll. Actually, they feel really good sooner but you want to be sure the internal healing is solid.

When you pick them up, please have your crate in the car, clean up stuff, a stuffed Kong with kibble and a bit of cream cheese mixed with it and frozen (for lunch) and someone with you to tend to the pup in the back seat if you are more than an hour away.  Don't forget your Snuggle Puppy!

I will provide you with a leash, collar and harness as well as toys.

UPDATE:  This morning (Thurs.), all woke up hungry and ready to play. Their play area has been reduced to minimize how far they can be outdoors. They are only allowed in the ramp area and one paved area. In this way, they cannot run full throttle but can still be outdoors. I also have been feeding them FROMM PUPPY GOLD. They will be transitioned to this food by the time you pick them up on Sunday. It has decent ingredients and is a small kibble which they are eating just fine with. Those of you who wish to continue the raw diet will be fine with just adding it to the kibble until you are feeding a full serving of raw over five days.  I found this kibble at Pet Life in Sanford, Me. but I think most quality pet food stores carry it.

At this very moment, they are playing 'peek a boo' under the ramp and making a racket at 6:49 am. I sure hope my neighbors are already up!  :+)

GUNNY X ABNER LITTER at 8 weeks!

This morning we all took a ride to my vet for a couple of vaccines and a Health Certificate.  The pups do very well in the car with no salivating, vomiting or excessive crying. I still don't know which one does complain but it is not for very long.

The vet techs adored them and I had four of them in the room holding and loving on the puppies while Dr. Norris gave each of them a complete exam.  Pics were also taken for their Facebook Page.

Both Thaddeus and Demi Tasse had their microchips inserted along with the vaccine. Luckily, Rosie, Herbie, Bailey and Coral Anne will get microchips inserted during their surgeries tomorrow, so won't feel it at all. Thaddeus and Demi will stay home while the others are at the vet and enjoy the extra space and attention.  :+)

I decided to give them a bit of panache this week.

Rosie - 5.3 lbs. (Teal)

Herbie - 6.2 lbs. (Green)

Bailey - 5.2 lbs.  (Peach)

Demi Tasse - 5.5 lbs. (Guardian Home)

Thaddeus Dood - 7.1  lbs. (Guardian Home)

Coral Anne - 5.8 lbs. (Purple)

GUNNY X ABNER LITTER and their eye exam road trip.

Early this morning, I packed up the group and we all went for a 35 minute car ride to the Canine Ophthalmologist in Portsmouth, NH for eye exams.

Although there was one pup that was vocal quite a bit of the time, I cannot tell you who it was as I could not see way in the back.  However, once inside the facility, all were happy and full of wags and kisses. Each one was super well behaved as they went through being in a dark room having bright lights being shone in each eye. No one balked, cried or wiggled.  Of course, the vet techs each had to carry a pup to parade around showing them off to others in different offices - so cute.  :+) They always get excited when they know I am coming in with pups.

The group as a whole had very minor 'dings' that will never affect their vision and I was so pleased. It always makes me feel great when this test is over with. I took this pic with my iPhone which is not as good as my camera but wanted to show you the 'Pup Mobile' for litter vet appointments. My 'Pup Stroller' is too big to fit in my car but is awesome for walking the pups.

Gunny's pups had a lot of fun with their visitors today!

Just another day playing with the 'company'!

GUNNY X LIL ABNER AT 7 WEEKS!

Between visitors, grain deliveries and phone calls, I was finally able to get pics of Gunny's puppies for their seventh week segment!

I will post more pics of them having lots of fun with their 'guests' today.

They love being outdoors and only come in for naps. I even feed them outside because the weather has been great and they go potty right after!  Makes my chores easier!  :+)

It would be nice if those of you who have not submitted preferences do so at this time. Assignments will be late on Sunday and I will need names by then as well! Looking forward to what you all have come up with!

Thaddeus Dood is the largest pup at 6  1/4 lbs.
He has a Guardian Home.

'A walk in the park' with future guardians for ADNE

I LOVE it when future guardians are so involved in a litter. This wonderful couple comes often just to socialize with all the pups and boy, do all of them enjoy it!

This past Sunday, they took all the pups for a walk in my puppy stroller. What a great experience for the pups to be on the road with cars buzzing by and enjoying the 'lumps and bumps' of the road. It is important for them to hear these strange sounds as the the real world swirls around them.  Of course, I will take them for walks as well but it was so nice for them to offer to do it for me.  :+)

Thanks so much Serena and David!

GUNNY X ABNER LITTER - SIX WEEKS OF AGE!

As you know from the previous posts the pups go outdoors a lot to play and potty - they are doing super well. They love having visitors to 'chew on' and cuddle with and then go down for a long nap. It is a good life for sure!

Of course, the weather has been great for this outdoor exposure and it makes my clean up in the puppy room easier.  :+)

For today's pics, I put them in scarfs that represent their collar color. They were very good in the pail I used to contain them - THANK GOODNESS! They had just gone to settle for a nap when I got the chance to set up for pics, so were quite compliant. A little trick I need to remember for next week's picture taking segment!

Teal Collar Girl weighs 3  1/2 lbs. at 6 weeks.

Black Collar Male is 5 lbs. at 6 weeks. The heaviest pup in the litter.

Purple Collar Girl is 3  3/4 lbs. at 6 weeks.

Pink Collar Girl is 3  5/8 lbs. at 6 weeks.

Green Collar Male is 4  1/4 lbs. at 6 weeks.

Peach Collar Girl weighs 3  1/2 lbs. at 6 weeks.

Visitors this week to socialize Gunny's litter of pups!

Lots of cuddles, pats and belly rubs were enjoyed by the pups this past week. I am always so grateful for the buyers who make the trip to meet my adults and play with the pups of the litter they are getting a pup from. Visitations are a WIN - WIN - WIN - for them, me and the pups!

Here are several pics for all of you to enjoy. Nothing takes away stress faster and more effectively than enjoying the kisses and antics of a litter of pups.  :+)

Now isn't this something? The 'phantom twins' and two of the apricot girls wrestling. Segregation is not
encouraged here, honest!
