First.... Charlotte has some good news to share!

We are very happy to share the good news that Charlotte is indeed pregnant with Rocky's puppies!

Charlotte's guardian said that lately her appetite has been a bit 'off' and she is resting more than typical. Her energy level has tapered quite a bit and she is more mellow and content to just 'hang around'.

All this was music to my ears as it all pointed to a successful mating!

Here is Tasha and Dr. Estle getting Charlotte comfortable on the table as they prepare for her Ultra Sound.

I was just going to do a palpation where the vet feels for little 'chestnuts' in the abdomen to determine pregnancy but I decided to do the ultra sound instead so my guardian could have some pictures.

This is the Ultra Sound machine showing proof positive that Charlotte is pregnant.

See that black blob at the top - that is a puppy sac! Looking at this in person, you can actually see the heart 'twinkling' like a little star. It is quite the experience. Dr. Estle claims there are at least four sacs but could be more as U/S is not used for counting the number of possible pups but to see if the sacs are viable and healthy looking.

I am hopeful that this litter will produce wonderfully 'happy go lucky' babies for families looking for an energetic and friendly companion. This litter is not spoken for as yet, so applications are welcomed. I do expect this litter to be multi-colored with patterns similar to a Bernese Mountain Dog called a Tri Color, or a Parti pattern akin to a Cocker Spaniel and possible Phantom markings that you see in Gordon Setters.

The litter is due around October 3rd or so and will be ready for homes in the first week of December. What a great way to socialize a pup around Christmas and bring in the New Year. :+)

Charlotte x Rocky Litter info! UPDATE!

Charlotte and Rocky had a whirlwind affair and totally enjoyed their time together. It was a long trip to Connecticut but well worth it. Rocky is such a handsome guy and he wooed Charlotte in no time flat. I expect their puppies to be a range from mini to mediums (20 to 28 lbs.).

What a fun litter this should be! Rocky is a tri-color (looks like a Bernese Mountain Dog) but is a third generation Cockapoo. Charlotte is an Australian Labradoodle with a 'hidden' phantom gene and does not express any color but cream visually but carries and can produce phantom marked pups (like Molly Pitcher) in the Nellie x Emmett litter. On top of that, both Charlotte and Rocky carry for the parti (two color) gene!

Charlotte's whelping is going to be like opening presents at Christmas - a surprise in every 'sack'.  :+)

Charlette is avoiding the '2-Step'!

Miss Charlotte 2-Step is losing her rhythm with regard to cycling! Supposedly, we expected it in June and June is over. We are now into July and she continues to drag her feet. I am sure she will come into heat when her guardian family is 'on vacation'. Let's hope her 'dance card' fills up soon!

I do believe this mating will produce some of the most colorful ADNE pups ever! I also expect them to be energetic, smart, agility candidates and cute as a button! Both Charlotte and Rocky love people and are very engaging. So looking forward to what is in store.  :+)

What a combo! Rocky on the left and Charlotte 2-Step on the right.

Both have beautiful coats and very engaging personalities. Many genetic labs now offer color and pattern tests and both have been tested. Rocky is called a 'tri-color' and Charlotte carries 'hidden' tri color genes. I have been hoping to produce a tri colored Labradoodle for at least 10 years and this mating might just do it!  I just wish Charlotte would cycle already!

I hope some color will be in our breeding future.

I have been going round and round about who I would like to breed Charlotte 2-Step to come June when she SHOULD come into cycle.  After much deliberation, I have decided to expand my horizons and will breed her to ROCKY of Blueberry Cottage Labradoodles.

Here are some pics of this handsome (and colorful) stud!

Rocky is a third generation Cockapoo! His incredible markings, friendly demeanor, softly curling coat and health stats brought him to the top of my stud choices.  This combination should produce some phantom marked puppies which will be a nice change and welcome addition to the Annabelle Doodle program.

If you have read the history on Labradoodles, adding the Spaniel to the recipe is the major difference between the American vs. Australian, I have always been smitten by the Spoodle/Cockapoo hybrid and used them in my program with excellent results. Now that I have finally made up my mind, I look forward to what this mating will bring in color patterns. I do expect these pups to be full of energy, happy and intelligent.

This is called a Tri-Color Phantom pattern.

Playful and smart.

Energetic!
