In desperate need of a haircut!

My stud hopeful, vin Diesel, looks like a Maine black bear!  His guardian was becoming concerned since no groomers are open.  I was hoping to visit Diesel soon, so offered to trim him.

He came prancing in and immediately my girls swarmed him.  He handled it beautifully, showing respect but not being overly submissive.  Before long he was bowing to play.  :+)

Diesel is a dream boy.  He is so cuddly and gentle and has no issues with touching toes, tail, ears, mouth or any other part of his body.  His coat is so luxurious, soft, drapes like a silk curtain.  I could not have hoped for a more handsome black stud to grace my program

He will be tested in June and I sure hope the testing Gods are kind and he begins his 'job' soon.  :+)

Looking like a bear with 5 inches of coat!

It drapes beautifully when I pull it back.

My girls were very interested in this mysterious dark coated studley male!

A lot was cut off but a bit more to go.

Love that tongue.

Showing off his new physique.

I adore black Labradoodles.  I breed for them unlike many other breeders.  If you do not want a black doodle for a potential pet, you should NOT fill out an application for an ADNE pup.  If the best pup for your family is a black one, that is the pup you will be assigned.  Many breeders avoid blacks and I strongly urge you to get a pup from one of them.

A chip off the ol' block!

After my vet visit this morning, I went to visit DIESEL who is a son of Boomer and Gunny.  What a DELIGHTFUL boy!

He is slightly smaller than his daddy which was what I was hoping for.  A gorgeous silky, silky, black wavy fleece coat that his guardians keep long.  I expect he will get a 'big boy' haircut soon but I know how hard it is to want to cut a coat like this.

My thoughts on his mature size is roughly 25 to 28 lbs. and about 17 inches in height.  I am looking forward to his testing in about 4 months!  What stunning pups he will produce.  Oh, and his temperament is sooooo sweet and cuddly - a real momma's boy!  :=)

Cuddled next to his momma indoors.  He kept coming towards me for pats so we had to  'squish' him.  :+).
Love his white splashes!

Outdoors he looks like a black Maine bear!  His coat is so luxurious, you just want to  keep your hands on him.
His guardian says his favorite things are 'being brushed and cuddled'...oh, and playing keep away!

DIESEL! UPDATE: WE HAVE A GUARDIAN HOME FOR DIESEL!!!!

Yes, this boy is still with us.  I keep hoping that a local guardian home may present themselves, but so far - no takers!

Diesel is such a love - a calm, happy pup who LOVES to eat.  Will do just about anything for a bit of food.  He really is calm - I am not kidding.  He gives soft kisses, loves cuddles, is NOT a barker at all and is very good on a leash.  He whimpers for about three minutes when in the car and then just relaxes.  Diesel is one rugged boy and should be about 30 lbs. and maybe 17 inches.  Kind of like a cement block.  :+)

Always sits when asked. He was just trimmed in this pic.

Never complains when placed in his safe zone for a couple of  hours.

A sweet gentle face.  Diesel is truly a mini Lab with a soft, silky, non shedding coat.
If you would truly enjoy having a wonderful stud as your pet, please let me know by replying here or send me an email.  Information on how to contact me is on the bottom of each page of the website.  Just remember, I need a guardian home for Diesel within an hour of either my vet in Rochester, NH or me in North Berwick, Maine.  Dog experience is a must and so is dog training.  Although Diesel is already trained in the basics (sit, come, down, walks on loose leash), training creates wonderful bonding and that is good for both of you.  :+)

To my great happiness, the Cormiers of Rochester, NH will be welcoming ADNE vin Diesel to their home soon.  I can't wait to take a pic of this couple with this charming guy.  WAHOO!  :+)

What a perfect day!

I had been waiting for some time to have a sunny, warm day to rake the leaves and pine needles that are all over the pup yard and deck areas.  TODAY was it!

Diesel and I spent almost the entire day, stacking some of the play-yard toys into their 'winter' areas and putting stuff away.  Then I raked and raked.  Diesel loved watching the rake go back and forth.  Every now and again, I would throw a ball and ask Diesel to sit or do 'down' and he complied because he knew I had treats.  Every time he jumped up, he was told 'no' and asked to sit again for the treat (which was a Cheerio).

After all was stashed and done, I think Diesel was quite tired.  He was eager to get comfortable on the  bench swing.  Smart boy.  :+)

How are all Diesel's littermates doing?

I would love to hear from all of you.  Diesel has been doing well.  Sleeps from 10 pm to 6 am with no complaints.  He is really beginning to play with both Daisy and Gunny well.  I should say both Daisy and Gunny are playing less rough with Diesel!  He has more free time in the house because he is doing very well going potty when asked as well as using the dogie door quite reliably during the day. He still makes mistakes but just a couple when I am not watching or paying attention to the time.  It is always good to use a stove timer when you allow free time!  The less mistakes the faster they are house trained.

Diesel has an appointment for his Kennel Cough oral drop on Tuesday and I continue to take him to places to meet new people which is going well.  He is doing really well with not being so scared with cars and trucks going by - I am grateful I have a fenced front yard where playing with Gunny and Daisy has really helped him get over that by distracting him.  Of course, walking him with his harness and leash has also helped a ton.

I am so please by how people react to him - saying how nicely he sits and how handsome he is.  I hope all his siblings are enjoying meeting new people as well.

Please let me know how things are going!  Don't forget to add a pic!  :+)

Diesel is gaining very well and solid as can be.  A bit over 11 weeks and almost 10 lbs.!
Yes, I am still waiting for a guardian home for my sweet guy!!

More pics of Diesel playing with Daisy and Gunny.

Would you like....

  • a calm puppy?
  • one that walks pretty well on a leash?
  • one that uses a dogie door to go potty most times?
  • a little guy that likes car rides in his harness on the back seat?
  • a very likeable pup that sits by your side when you stop walking and talk to people?
  • to snuggle with a non shedding, silky coated fur-baby, while you watch tv at night with him chewing on a toy?
  • one that 'goes to bed after potty at 10 pm and gets up around 6 am?
  • a darling pup that rarely barks?
  • a pup that enjoys playing tug or ball?
  • a pup that happily goes to Home Depot, Lowe's, garden centers, Tractor Supply and greets people by sitting and waiting for a treat?
If any of the above appeals to you, please contact me at joycetabor@gmail.com to 'talk' about a guardianship for my sweet Diesel.  :+)  Sure, he needs more training but he has had a great start and I would want to place in a loving home.

A Guardian Home gem named DIESEL is looking to join a gentle family.

Diesel is quite relaxed sitting by my large flower pot in front of our door.
YES, Diesel is still here because he deserves a wonderful guardian home that is searching for a great puppy to add love, smiles and fun into their lives.

When I went to take Diesel for a walk on our road, I realized he was NOT happy to have cars or trucks whizzing by him, he actually FROZE.  I knew immediately that I had to desensitize him to that 'sound'.  I began by working with him in my front yard where he had the opportunity to run back to the front door each time a car or truck went by.  I then grabbed some cooked chicken, a leash and harness and kept him with me when those vehicles went by.  I redirected him to pay attention to me as the nasty 'noise' passed.  Once he realized he was safe, he began to relax and only showed a mild awareness of the vehicles going by.  Then I moved to my driveway with the same 'equipment' and repeated the same formula.  Before long, he was walking just fine up and down my driveway getting his goodies, pats and encouragement from me.  Lastly, I got him to cross the street with me and repeated it again.  He also met a couple of our town workers to say 'Hello' to as cars went by.

Yesterday, I took him to two garden nurseries to meet strangers and say 'Hello'.  He was perfect.  When not in my arms, he sat by my feet as I talked or browsed.  Everyone thought he was so gorgeous and sweet.  Each day, I expose him to something new and repeat the steps with regard to the car noise.  He has no reaction to vacuums, mowers, etc.  He is very good on car rides, no vomiting or whining.  Diesel comes when called and sleeps very well in his crate from 10 pm to about 6 am.  When I am busy, Diesel stays in his safe zone where his crate is with the door off.  This is a perfect set up for a pup.  He is so easy to have around - even my girls don't mind him too much.  Daisy and Gunny, his mom, play pretty rough with him and he is submissive and respectful.  Olive growls at him all the time and Harriet grumbles but likes him.  Willis is unfazed when he is around.

Remember to read about a Guardian Home for Diesel on this blog further down the posts.  I am particular about grooming, vaccines/flea tick products, food and training!  I want my doodles to be healthy and happy, so good food, minimal vaccines and positive training are very important to me.  Diesel is very food motivated and learns quickly. :+)

DIESEL- GUARDIAN HOME CANDIDATE

I took a few more pics of Diesel today.  I just love his silky coat!  I expect Diesel to be 25 to 28 lbs. at maturity.  He is a 'middle of the road' puppy - not too soft and not too busy.  He likes to be the center of attention but does not demand it.  Diesel also can entertain himself without too much effort.  A very compliant nature.

Diesel has a soft but playful temperament.

His coat will have lovely waves.
9 weeks and stopping traffic at lights and parking lots!  Too cute!

Diesel is nine weeks here and 8 lbs.  A rugged, mello kind of guy.

His coat is soooo silky and soft - like his soft look in his eyes.
Being a Guardian Home is a unique opportunity but it does come with some caveats.  I would like to list some of them that are truly important to me:

  • His name is Diesel and it cannot be changed or be called a different 'nickname' as he has a veterinary record in that name and I don't want any confusion.
  • For the health of my breeding stock, I require minimal vaccines.  A holistic vet is my preference but some traditional vets are reasonable.  My vaccine protocol will not generally follow your vets requirements but you must use mine.  Over vaccination impacts the immune system and I wish to avoid this.
  • Read my contract because there are several flea/tick meds that simply cannot be used due to health issues and death resulting from their use.  I recommend Wondercide as it can be used on humans and animals.  There is no 'warning' on their label due to its safety.  There are also vests that can be bought at NoFlyDesigns.com that work well when going into the woods or grassy areas that repel fleas, ticks, etc.  Poisonous chemicals are not acceptable to use on my Labradoodles.  I always ask 'Can this stuff be used on me'? The answer has always been 'No, it is not recommended'.  So why is it ok to put on my companion?
  • Mother Nature is in charge of when I breed and she is unforgiving.  Hence, a guardian must understand that when I need a stud, it is not something I can postpone.  Breeding is very time sensitive.  Of course, I always try to be reasonable and provide plenty of notice when I can but there will be times when it is not possible.  How flexible is your schedule?
  • Is your home close enough to me that it will not be an inconvenience to you to bring Diesel here as needed?  The traveling is on you, so give this lots of consideration.
  • Diesel must always look well tended to.  Will this added expense of grooming fit in your budget and schedule?
  • Training is required and Diesel must be a well mannered doodle.  Does your schedule allow for training classes?  He is an easy boy - sensitive, sweet and mello.  He wants to please and should only be trained with positive methods.  No choke chains or harsh reprimands, please!
The list seems quite long, I know.  :+)  A guardianship is a partnership and needs open and honest communication.  Transparency is what we both will need in order to have a seamless relationship.  A question I get asked all the time is "How many times will you need to use him'?  My answer always is 'I have no idea'!  Sometimes it may be once a month, or three times a year.  A breeder does not have a set schedule, it is always random.

So, please be honest with yourself when you read the above. Diesel is the male Pick of the Litter. He has the DNA, coat, conformation, personality and temperament to move my program forward in a positive way.  You are instrumental in his development to be a 'hero' in this respect.  All we can both hope for is that he passes my stringent testing protocol at a year of age at my vet's office in Rochester, NH.  If he falls below my guidelines, then you will be required to pay the balance of the pet price.  I will pay for his neuter.  If he passes, you will be refunded your deposit in full when his contract ends and I still pay for his neuter at that time.
