Big Day Today! NELLIE'S LITTER GOES HOME!

Some happy new owners arrived today to take their fur-baby home! I know tonight will be interesting for all of them.  :+)

Our new breeding hopeful, JONNIE CACHE, was picked up first. Congratulations Deb! I am sure Eli will be a big help.

LUNA is going to keep the Xydaki family hopping! She is going to love all the attention  for sure. :+)

I can't wait to hear how ABBY will do with the Levangie family's other furry friend. I bet Abby will be very respectful.

I just know FINN Starzec will have so much fun with his new human 'sibling'!

Miss Sunshine, aka SUNNY will be flying to California in a few hours. She will be an additional companion for the Hallinan family. Noche, their new Cockapoo, doesn't know he is getting a sister. Two puppies, oh my!

COCO doesn't know it yet but there is a furry friend waiting for her at home.
The Higgins-Versteeg family is looking forward to all the fun.

Update on Nellie's pups.

Sorry I was only able to get an angle on one set of 'surgical' pups.  :+(

They are doing very well. Although they do spend some time in the individual crates, they also get combined with Tate's litter in their pen to say 'Hello' and have some social time. I do let them all out together at times but have prevented them from going into the puppy play area. They have a couple of pens to move about in. This is to curtail the 'patients' from lots of running and jumping. I can never prevent every pup from getting rambunctious after surgery though - they feel too good!

Nellie's pups are placed in the crates all night in the hope that it will be a good start to crate training for you when they go home. I am sure to let all of them out to potty around 10 pm and then Tate's litter is in the communal pen; and Nellie's are given a tiny treat and placed in the crates. I usually hear about 15 minutes of complaining and then peace. Don't expect miracles when you get your pup, but it should not be too bad with this introduction.

Nellie's pups that got their surgeries today are home and resting.

It has been a very busy day for sure!  Pups are home and in their individual crates except for Jonnie who is sleeping with Tate's litter tonight.

All the surgeries went well and they will all need about 10 days of staying relatively quiet with no excessive running, wrestling or jumping - not easy to do with numerous pups! So, my plan is to keep the 'patients' in a confined play area outdoors - while the others can have their social time as normal. Thank goodness it is suppose to be a nice day tomorrow.

Will take some pics as time presents itself tomorrow.

Definitely a busy week. UPDATE - TATE'S LITTER WILL BE TEMPERAMENT TESTED TOMORROW DUE TO TRAINER ILLNESS.

As posted, today the Nellie litter went to the eye vet and did super! They were excellent in the car and enjoyed their ride in the puppy buggy.  :+) A little boy kept them company as we waited our turn and they all did well with the exams.

Once we were home again, I fed them and let them out for a bit. Since they are being spayed, neutered and microchipped tomorrow - baths were given. It was their first bathing experience as well as an introduction to the hair dryer. Again, they all did remarkably well.

On Thursday, they will have their incisions checked and be given their first vaccines - a Parvo virus and a Distemper shot. Saturday, they will all go home.

In the meantime, Tate's litter is also getting their temperament tests tomorrow (while Nellie's litter is at the vets), and I will be taking care of all the paperwork for their booklets the rest of the week.

NELLIE #2 X EMMETT LITTER IS EIGHT WEEKS!

Wow! Next weekend they will be going home to their new owners!

Today, they will be traveling to my Ophthalmologist for their eye exams. Please know that this is not to see if they have '20/20' vision but to rule out any diseases of the eye. There are small eye conditions at this age that include Distichiasis (extra eyelashes), Persistent Pupillary Membranes aka PPM's that are little dots in the eye or Epethelials which show up as 'tiny oil patches in the developing eye. All these are benign issues and do not impact their vision at all. Many of them go away as the pup ages.

It will be interesting to see how they do in the car as this is a 45 minute trip one way!

This week both litters use the dogie door extremely well and have at least three sessions a day of free time to go in and out at their leisure. They love being outdoors and take full advantage of the 'social time'.

Here they are in their Halloween neckerchiefs!  BOO!

LUNA - Teal Girl at 8 weeks. 6  3/4 lbs.

ABBY - Red Girl at 8 weeks.  6 lbs.

COCO - Phantom-Sable Girl at 8 weeks.  6  1/4 lbs.

SUNNY (Pink Girl) at 8 weeks.  4  1/2 lbs.
FINN (Blue Boy) at 8 weeks.  4  3/4 lbs.

JONNIE CACHE (Purple Girl - Guardian Home) at 8 weeks  4  3/4 lbs..

ASSIGNMENTS OF NELLIE X EMMETT'S LITTER

This morning my trainer, Sue, came over to do temperament testing of the above litter. Happily, all the pups did so great and Sue was so, so pleased.

Every single pup went into the training area with their tails up and wagging and proceeded to cruise around the room investigating the toys and obstacles. None showed any shyness or cowered in a corner. Dropping the cupcake metal pan only had them stop briefly to check it out. Some grabbed a toy and ran around with it while others preferred to be on Sue's lap. What a great bunch!

Assignments as follows:
  • Red Collar Girl - Abby will be welcomed by the Levangie Family and their current dog.
  • Pink Collar Girl - The Hallinan Family will be coming from California to pick up Sunshine aka 'Sunny'.
  • Teal Collar Girl - The Xydaki Family is thrilled to have Luna.
  • Blue Collar Boy - Finn will be joining another family dog at the Starzec Family.
  • Purple Collar Girl - Jonnie Cache will be joining her guardian home family in NH.
  • Phantom/Sable Girl - Coco will be going to the Higgin-Versteeg Family.
Fortunately, all turned out well and I do believe that these pups will be loved and enjoyed by all. Please note that your balances are due and need to be in the mail within a couple of days to be processed by my bank prior to pick ups. Please do not delay, as to do so jeopardizes the release of your pup.

Thank you!

NELLIE X EMMETT LITTER AT SEVEN WEEKS.

Holy cow, time is flying! The last two weeks are very busy around here with upcoming vet appointments, temperament testing, visitors and paperwork.

Thank you to those who have contacted me regarding preferences, names and group pick up times - it is very much appreciated. Those who have not, please do. :+)

I have posted pics of the families that have been around socializing with the pups this past week and they love having all that company - it is so good for them (and you)!

Today's pics were taken outside for this group. They do love the outdoors and are all using the dogie door flap quite well - even the tiny Black Girl from Tate's litter. She has such heart for the munchkin that she is.  :+)

Purple Girl will be placed in a Guardian Home and weighs 4 lbs. at 7 weeks.

Teal Girl is 5  3/4 lbs. at 7 weeks.

Pink Girl is 4 lbs. at 7 weeks.

Blue Boy weighs 4  1/4 lbs.  at 7 weeks.

Red Girl is hefty like her sis below. 5 lbs. at 7 weeks.

And the biggest pup in the litter is Phantom Girl at 5  1/4 lbs. at 7 weeks.

Some misc. pics of Nellie's pups playing outdoors today.

The day was too beautiful to keep them indoors!  I also had Tate's litter outdoors but only took pics of Nellie's.  Enjoy.

WEEK SIX OF NELLIE & EMMETT LITTER

I must say Nellie's pups are thoroughly enjoying going outdoors in the little aisle just outside the pup room door. With the wonderful weather at hand, they scamper up and down the ramp going in and out at will. Right now, I am leaving the door open for easy access. Eventually, I will close the door and they will figure out how to use the little dogie door to go outside.

Their coats are thick and fluffy so as the weather chills, more adventures await them in the large turfed play area.

We have had several visitors this week and the pups love meeting them! Little tails wag and wag as they sniff hands, chomp on shoe laces and enjoy all the attention and pats.

By the end of the week, Tate will return to her guardian home and retire from my program. As with all my retired girls, it is bittersweet. Nellie is already with hers and enjoying all the attention a single doodle gets. :+)

Blue Boy - Still the smallest and soooo sweet! 3 1/2 lbs.

Pink Girl is 3 3/4 lbs. this week and very brave!

Phantom Girl is one of the heaviest (and very friendly) in the litter at 4 3/4 lbs.

Purple Girl weighs 3 3/4 lbs. A dainty, polite little girl.

Teal Girl is the largest and wants attention (and to be held) all the time. Weighs 5 1/4 lbs.

Another armful is Red Girl who weighs in at 5 lbs. She has a gentle spirit.

Nellie Bly has gone home with her guardians today.

A lot has happened today. We had Nellie's family come over to visit with the pups and Nellie was so, so happy to see them. Nellie is quite ready to leave her fur-babies and happily trotted to their car with nary a 'see you later'!

Also, her pups went outdoors for the first time today and totally enjoyed the experience. They were a bit tentative at first but quickly decided being outdoors was quite nice. :+)

Lastly, Tate's guardian and family came to visit and enjoyed her pups. Tate was also taken out for an afternoon of recreation and her pups have not missed a beat with her absence. Tate is targeted to return permanently to her guardian home on Friday.

There was lots of sniffing and wondering at first.

Pink Collar Girl was quite brave as the rest looked on.

It takes one to do it first and the rest generally follow suit.

Cute little trio.

As Nellie was hugged, some pups stole a slurp of milk.

It did not take long at all for Nellie to stand up and skip off from nursing duties!

NELLIE & EMMETT'S LITTER - WEEK 5

Oh golly it has been a wicked crazy day for me. My apologies for getting these pics up so late. I really do try to get them up by early afternoon but today was unusually packed for me, so here they are.

Red Girl is 4 3/4 lbs.

Blue Boy is 3 1/4 lbs.

Pink Girl is 3 1/2 lbs.

Phantom Girl is 4 1/2 lbs.

Purple Girl is 3 1/2 lbs.

Teal Girl is 4 3/4 lbs.

I am pretty sure Red, Phantom and Teal girls will mature close to 30 lbs. while the others will be around 25 lbs.  I expect Blue Boy will be around 22 lbs. or less. He has been tracking to be the smallest all along.

Hopefully, I will be able to bleach the fenced area outdoors so these pups can be outside for a bit. The temperature needs to be mild and the area cleaned and sanitized before I can do this. Then I hope to post some pics of them exploring the outdoors.  :+)

The BEAUTIFUL blacks!

I LOVE BLACK PUPPIES! I think they are simply regal with those sparkling coats. Just could not resist putting two in a halloween bucket to show off.  These are two of Nellie's ebony darlings.    :+)

NELLIE X EMMETT LITTER - WEEK FOUR

At this point, the pups are becoming 'little dogies' rather than 'newborns'. They see and hear well, they have more strength in their legs for walking about; and are beginning to eat a milk/food mix every day. Once they are eating this mix well three times a day, weaning will begin for Nellie. I always try to get the mommas back to their guardian homes by 5 1/2 weeks or so. Of course, each mom is different and Mother Nature dictates much of my schedule.

Pups are playing more with each other but still take long naps between eating and potty needs. Visitors have begun coming and more are scheduled. :+)

Pink Girl at 4 weeks and 3 lbs.  Mid-range.

Blue Boy at 4 weeks and 2 3/4 lbs. Smallest in litter.

Red Girl - 4 lbs. at 4 weeks. Heaviest and probably will be in the high 28 lbs. at maturity.

Teal Girl - is also 4 lbs. at 4 weeks . Ditto Red Girl.

Purple Girl is 3 lbs. at 4 weeks and will mature to around 23 lbs. or so.

Phantom Girl is 3 3/4 lbs. at 4 weeks and will be around 26 lbs. at maturity.
