A visit with JONNIE CACHE!

Sunday's crisp temperature and sunshine was a great start to my trip to visit Jonnie Cache's guardian family.  Jonnie is just about 5  1/2 months now and I wanted to see how she was fitting into the family - especially since they own a male from one of ADNE's previous litters.

What a terrific visit we had!  Jonnie is very much loved, her training level is impressive and Murphy, their first doodle, is thrilled to have a little pesty sister to play tug with.

I laughed out loud when they told me that Jonnie has this 'game' of hiding her favorite toys under a chair that she CANNOT get under but knows they are safe from Murphy until sweeping time!  Who would have guessed that hiding them in a 'cache' would protect her 'treasures'??

Jonnie is a star pupil and her trainer uses her often as a helper in the class.  She loves all dogs and plays with them really well.  I am grateful that her guardians want to continue training so Jonnie can really excel.  Thanks guys! You are star pupils yourself!

Jonnie is a true mini - about 15 inches in height and 15 lbs.  I expect her mature size to be roughly 16 inches and maybe 17 lbs.  I could not be more please with this guardian family and Jonnie Cache!  I am hopeful Jonnie will pass all her tests and be a momma someday.

'Would you like me to sit and stay?'

'I can turn my head if you would like'.

'How about lying down'?

'Do you see my Melanistic Mask? I am told some Great Dane's carry this gene as well'.

'I can be absolutely still like a statue'!

Murphy is this family's first doodle and he loves his brushing time. Talk about being indulged!

Happy, content Murphy.  He is smiling.  :+)

All smiles as JONNIE CACHE goes home with her guardian family!

I could not have asked for a better placement for this little treasure!  This family already has a sweet male ADNE doodle and just 'fell in love' with Jonnie when seen on my Home Page.  It is a match made in heaven for sure!  I was hoping for another well behaved dog, well mannered children and a stay at home parent for little Jonnie and got it all!  Thrilled does not even cover it.  :+)

Jonnie...be good!!!!

Jonnie, almost ready for a guardian home placement. (Should be placed with her new home on 7/27!)

She is doing rather well and learning the ropes here at ADNE.  Today, we were working outdoors together, she was my constant companion as I was clearing up brush and such.

Who would not smile with that face showing such concern for your safety?
She has her vet appointment next week for Distemper and Parvo shots.  Once that is done, I will be taking her to a puppy social class as often as I can to expose her to all types of dogs.  Training will continue until the proper guardian home is found.

Jonnie loves to cuddle on the couch, follows you everywhere and has a healthy curiosity.  She does not seem to be a big chewer but that can change as soon as new teeth begin to present themselves.  Thank goodness she does NOT have a yippy, high pitched bark but a solid 'dog' bark - a major plus in my world!

After eating, she promptly follows me outdoors to 'do potty'.  Gotta love a pup who gets down to business quickly.  :+)

Another trip to Massachusetts!

Well, at least it won't be during a work day or a holiday like last time!  Golly, traffic was brutal getting back home.

Tomorrow I am off to pick up little Jonnie Cache (pronounced like the country singer Johnny Cash) from my breeder friend, Marci of Tango Wool.  Believe it or not, I think Jonnie is the biggest pup in the mini litter and she is not very big!!

Last week when I visited, I did some swabs for a couple of genetic tests and color DNA and the results were perfect for my ADNE stud match ups.  It has been years in the making but I finally have the potential for producing tri-colored puppies if the rest of the testing goes well.  This has been a goal of mine for several years.

Bernese Mtn. Dog
I have always loved the Bernese Mountain Dog color combo.  It is a combination of a black and tan phantom with the addition of white on the chest, chin, toes, head and sometimes a tip of the tail.  I find the colors magical together.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Names have meaning for me and Jonnie's interpretation is 'a gracious gift'. Cache means a 'secret place of treasure'.  Jonnie's mom's nickname is 'Billie'- I think you can all see the connections.  Another tidbit is that my now deceased older brother was named Johnny.  It's a sweet spot. :+)

I am looking forward to introducing Jonnie to all the doodles here and watching her grow a bit.  Hopefully, a local family will be interested in becoming her guardian.

Here is what a tri-color Australian Labradoodle looks like:

This handsome boy is from Canadian Doodles and his name is Porter.  He was instrumental in me striving to produce one like him.  :+)  You can see the similarities with the BMD above but in a much smaller size.

JONNIE CACHE will be arriving soon!

This little miniature phantom girl is expected to arrive on Saturday, July 14th.  I went down to visit her a week or so ago and felt she would be a great addition to the ADNE family.

Of course, I am looking for a wonderful, local guardian home for her.  Jonnie will be about 20 or so pounds at maturity and has a friendly, social personality.

Please contact me via phone or email if you have any questions!  joycetabor@gmail.com or 207-676-5579.  Thanks!

The above pics were taken of Jonnie at the breeder's when she was 7 weeks old.  She was very easy to handle and cooperative.  We tired her out after our photo session and she promptly went to sleep.

Hoping to add a little cutie to ADNE!

On Monday, I will brave the Fourth of July traffic onslaught to visit a breeder friend in Massachusetts to view her litter of adorable miniatures.   There is one that I am particularly interested in and she is a black and apricot phantom marked little girl with a white goatee.  From pictures, she has what I am looking for in new pedigree lines, size and type.  I am pretty sure her coat will have some curl but will be able to judge better once I can see, feel, hold and watch her move.  I am VERY excited about this possibility as I have been wanting a female phantom mini for several years.  Recently I added an unrelated chocolate phantom male miniature to my program as well as a black and light tan one.  However, none of them have gone through my vigorous testing protocol yet as they are all too young.  As a breeder, you invest in several types of what you hope to produce in the future and keep your fingers crossed that one might hit all the markers to become a breeder.

Of course, there are also some very cute apricots in the same litter and one of those might smitten me, so I am keeping an open mind as all the pups will carry for the black and apricot combination.  Learning about colors and patterns is extremely interesting to me and I enjoy this genetic learning curve.  Working with a breeder I know very well is also a huge plus.  :+)

This is the girl I am most interested in:

With her adorable white goatee, there is a very good chance she is a Tri Phantom Pattern which is very similar to the markings of a Bernese Mountain Dog.  Her paternal grand-daddy is a full Tri and gorgeous.  The fact that she is staring right into the camera shows confidence at such a young age (five weeks).

Once I return, I will have new pics and more info.  I will also be looking for a local (under and hour) guardian home for her.  If all goes well, I expect her placement to be around July 18th or so.
