PICK UP DAY!!!!! - (Sadie x Boomer Litter)

When I got up at 6 am today, it was snowing.  Living in New England is such fun with Mother Nature having a temper tantrum every now and again!  Thank goodness by the time the first curbside pick up arrived, it had stopped and was just very windy and chilly.  None of it stuck on the ground.

I had every thing set up and ready for the excited new owners and all arrived a bit early or on time!  We got all the contracts taken care of and those that stayed for the 'discussion' were on their way home in a little over an hour.  :+)

Annabelle and Conor were the first to arrive to pick up their sweetie, Maeby.  They drove all the way from Manhattan on this dreary day but had bright smiles once Maybe was in their arms!

A few minutes after Maebe was picked up, Raven's owners arrived.  Both of these girls were picked up
curbside and were on their way back home very quickly.  Raven is very sweet and gentle.

Then I had a brief period where I had some lunch and then looked forward to welcoming the rest of the group for our discussion.  While 'munching', I notice this:

Both Millie and Harper were snuggled together in the 'flying saucer'.  Too cute!

In the corner of the stair were Layla and Angus.  :+)

Everyone arrived and we immediately sat down and began our discussion.  After about an hour with all question asked and answered, we all went outdoors (the sun was shining now) and had pictures taken.

Thank you young ladies for playing with all the pups while parents were at our meeting.  I am sure Harper is
going to have lots of attention when you all get home.  I am sure your brother his going to be jealous!

This couple was my 'frequent flyer' visitor and the pups (and I) loved it.  Such energy with great
puppy mojo.  Angus will be 'the toast of Portland'!

Sweet Layla - such a gentle soul who will enjoy being fussed over by her new owners.   An easy pup
who will love the attention and be constantly by your side.
Millie, so unique in her markings I am sure it will be difficult to take a walk with her.   Looks like there will be
many hands to try though!  Be prepare for lots of questions and 'lookie loos'.  :+)

Prep for surgeries! (Sadie x Boomer Litter). They are back home!

As is my normal practice, the night before their surgeries, all the pups get a bath in my kitchen sink.  I like them to be nice and clean for my vet and since they cannot have a bath for ten days from their surgeries, it is well timed.  It is generally the first time a bath is needed.  I find my indoor potty system keeps them quite clean and being outdoors on the turf prevents them from getting into dirt or puddles.  I am also a poop nut.  I can't stand to see poop anywhere.  :+)

As I type, they are at my vets for the day.  I have already cleaned out my car and placed a nice clean bed where they will be placed when I pick them up late this afternoon.  I then bleached the floor in the Pup Room and made the pen area smaller so that 'activity' is limited.  I do want them to stay rather quiet when they return.  They will be allowed outdoors but, again, I limit their space.  Fresh air is good - running full tilt is not.  :+)

If I still have good light when we return later today, I will add another pic.  Till then, enjoy their bath pics from last night.  :+)

Angus says 'I am rinsed!  Honest!'

Millie says 'Being beautiful is a lot of work'.  Look at those lashes!

Harper is just enjoying her 'shower'.

Layla is watchful of that dryer!  She was not afraid, just curious.

I think Raven will be a water-baby.  Very non plussed.

Maebe is enjoying her towel wrap.  :+)

The pups were very good.  No one was overly unhappy.  There were a few whines but no 'get me out of here' participants.  I was pleased.  :+)

Surprisingly, I was able to pick them up around 3:3-0 pm which is quite early.  I fed them a bit of canned food before putting them in the crate area.  It is reduced in size on purpose.  I want them to have at least 12 hours of being somewhat confined for healing and to rest from the anesthesia, etc.  They are all doing very well.  I expect tomorrow morning they will be anxious to be outdoors in the gated pens.  They will not be in the turf playground area though.  I am keeping them on the 'low key' till pick up on Saturday.  We should all look this good after a surgery!

Whew! A busy day! (Sadie x Boomer Litter)

Bright and early this morning, we were off to the vets for the pups' first Distemper and Parvo Virus vaccine with a full check up for their Health Certificates.  It is still curbside service at my vets but the vet techs were quite delighted to carry the fur babies inside and assist the vet.

Here is a pic of them as I put them in the car for the visit:

From left to right:  Raven, Maeby, Harper, Angus, Layla and Millie.  I think they were eager to get going!

There was a bit of squawking for the first few minutes and then they were great.  I am so happy that none of them vomited or even salivated for the half hour ride.  Good babies!

Then, in the afternoon, we headed to the canine opthalmologist for their eye exams.  I packed their 'wagon' so all could go in at once to be examined.  I still could not go in but I was thrilled that they were taking appointments!  My last group of pups could not be examined because they were only taking emergencies.  I was so disappointed.

They fit!  What an adorable way to travel and be admired.  :+)

Here they are being returned by the vet tech.  I was so pleased that each one had a perfect eye exam result.  A great day!

'We were PERFECT mom!'

We are all home and I am ready to put my feet up.  :+)

Temperament Testing is done for the Sadie x Boomer litter.

We were all home in time for lunch.  The ride up went pretty well.  I had one that was vocal for a bit but she stopped after about 20 minutes.  I know it was a female because Rocky is not as vocal as his sisters - who typically have quite a bit to say.

As always, there were surprises as well as expected results.  Miss Bluebelle was the HUGE surprise - she absolutely LOVED the entire experience.  The trainer said 'I would love five doodles like this one'!  I was shocked at her performance - goes to show that you really cannot predetermine behavior unless it is challenged.  Going to a new place with new smells, new people and different obstacles to overcome truly help traits to be exposed.  Kudos to you Bluebelle!

Rocky was also in his element, showing off all over the place.  Just proved to me an active, busy, energetic and social environment will be his cup of tea.  My trainer felt he would love to learn 'Nose work' - interesting.  :+)

The rest were somewhere in the middle and I expect my trainer's reports on Sunday.

The ride home was very quiet, not a peep.  :+)

We had more visitors today. :+)

Apologies for not getting pics of our first visitor but the family will be coming again on Friday, so I will be sure to get some then.

The next visitors are 'frequent flyers'.  They have come nearly every week and have been great socializers for the pups.  I am grateful for their visits.  :+)

Raven resting after playing.

Pups took turns with 'favorites'.

Rocky getting cuddles.

Fern found a perfect spot for a 'bed'.

Miss Copper enjoys a private moment.

Raven says...'Ahhhhh.....nothing like a belly rub!'

SEVEN WEEKS, but a day late! (Sadie x Boomer)

Apologies for the late posting but I am sure you are happy to have them late a day than skip them this week, right??  :+)

The pups are enjoying the playground so much.  They love the freedom of leaving the pup room during free time and just run and chase each other.

Do you remember the Popper?  A toy for toddlers when they are beginning to walk and the bright little balls inside 'pop' when you push it?  Well, didn't that interest them a whole bunch!  First, they all were startled, then they followed me and the toy all over the place bopping to and fro as they chased the toy.  It was pretty cute.  :+)

As you know, on Thursday of this week, we take a trip to see my trainer and get Temperament Tested.    It will be difficult to wait for the write ups but that gives you a bit more time to pick a name and READ my website.  Don't forget to also read the CONTRACT.  If you have questions, now is the time to contact me with them.  On pick up day, you will be signing two contracts - I keep one and you keep the second.  I am still hoping for  decent day so we can have appropriate spacing outdoors so I can go over the notebook.  Wear masks and gloves if you like.  What happens will be determined by Mother Nature.

There has been so much development over the past week or so.  When awake, they are much more engaging with lots of energy.  Miss Copper, when we had visitors on Friday, was like the energizer bunny......going, going and going some more until I insisted she go nap with the others.  She outdid Rocky, who has had a very social personality right from the get go.  They all catch up eventually.  Enjoy the pics!

Sadie's pups were happy to have visitors today!

As always, having people over to play with pups makes my and the puppies day!  Thank you to Mother Nature for not raining on our 'parade' so we could be outdoors being mischievous, playful, running around playing chase and finding sticks and YES having people hold us.

Now that they have full access to the outdoors, they are loving it.  When the weather is decent, I also feed them outdoors so that they find their toilet out there as well.  I like them to be comfortable being out a lot so they are not shy about relieving themselves when at their new home.

Copper was the 'energizer bunny' today.  Even when the rest went for a nap, she was trying to get them to play.

Snuggles with Fern.

Iris enjoying a cuddle.

It is mine, noooooo...it is mine! Raven, Bluebelle and Fern.  Copper and Iris in the background.
