ADNE 'THADDEUS' DOOD - RETIRED Stud.

8 weeks.

When Thaddeus was whelped, I was so excited to have my first phantom marked puppy.  I had been color DNA planning for quite some time and my goal to produce phantoms in the future was becoming a reality.  Since Thad's birth, I have been fortunate enough to purchase an additional male and a female from two unrelated breeding programs to hopefully produce more of them in the future.  My fingers are crossed that these new purchases will pass my testing protocol as well as Thaddeus has!

WORDS FROM THADDEUS' GUARDIAN:

When I was considering getting a dog, I had some particular considerations, allergies being the most significant.  I also live in a small ranch house and, though I have a good-sized yard for play, I wanted a smaller dog that would “fit” my house and not be something of a bull in a China shop.  I did a considerable amount of research relative to allergies and began to focus-in on doodles.  Then, for some months, I made a point of approaching every doodle and doodle owner I encountered to interact with the dogs and discuss the allergy issue with the owner as well get a sense of temperament and energy level, etc.  I quickly came to the conclusion that a labradoodle (and particularly, an Australian Labradoodle) was the dog for me.  I researched local breeders and settled on Annabelle Doodles, partly because of proximity, but, primarily because I appreciated Joyce’s more natural approach to breeding in general.

Then it was merely an issue of size.  As I said, I wanted a dog to fit my space.  Also, I’m getting a little older myself and wanted a dog that was small enough for me to lift comfortably.  On the other hand, I also wanted a dog that was big enough to run and play with me and to keep up.  Originally, I had Joyce put me on a list for a “medium” litter.  However, after meeting a number of labradoodles in my neighborhood and around town, I began to be concerned that, if my medium turned out to be of the larger variety, it may be considerably bigger than I wanted.  At the time (rather coincidentally), Joyce had a new litter of miniatures that included a phantom (black with brown) that she was interested in placing as a potential stud.  She guesstimated that this particular pup’s ultimate weight would be about 28lbs.  That seemed about the perfect size for me and I jumped at the chance to be the guardian of Thaddeus Dood.

That was a year ago and Thaddy is now the little man about my house.  I work at home and so he and I spend considerable time taking breaks in the yard playing ball or frisbee.  He has a tendency to want to hang onto his toys and not return them to me but Cheerios work wonders and he will fetch and return his frisbee all day for a little “o” reward.  He is energetic and ready to go out and play any time but not before sitting obediently at the door to allow me to put on his collar.  He’s very good with other dogs and wants to play, play, play with them.  He can be cautious and protective when first meeting new people but, in a matter of seconds, or a minute or two, he is hopping all around them, tail wagging like mad.  I suspect partly because of his nature and partly because of training, he rarely ever barks.  As energetic as he is, he also enjoys quiet time and will snooze or occupy himself with a toy while I read or play music.  He’s incredibly well behaved, smart as a whip and a wonderful companion.

ABIGAIL ADAMS

RETIRED DOODLE - never bred.

Annabelle's Abigail Adams lives nearby in Wells, Maine. She has a lovely furry friend that she adores and her guardians are two of the nicest people I have ever met.

The first litter from Nellie and Emmett were adorable and that mating actually produced my first phantom marked puppy that I identified as 'Molly Pitcher'. It seems Nellie likes to whelp on holidays as her first litter was born on July 3rd. I 'nicknamed' all the pups with patriotic names and all but one customer kept those names!  Although I loved Molly, the phantom, she had an underbite so was sold as a pet. Fortunately, Abigail was also a charmer so I certainly lucked out. I do keep trying for that elusive phantom though!  :+)

Although, Abigail has several more tests to pass, the big ones are now behind us and her track to becoming an ADNE momma appears solid.

Well trained and smart.
Full of confidence!

Words from her guardians:

Abigail may be small in size, but she is big in our home and in our hearts.  She greets us every morning with a swiftly wagging tail that hardly stops all day.  Abby enjoys wrestling and playing chase with our older dog, Tucker. Long walks, visits with neighbors (human and canine), chewing on her antler and belly rubs are some of her other much loved activities.  Abby is athletic and her all time favorite pastime is leaping high through the stream of water from the garden hose.  It’s hard to resist her sweet face and exceptionally soft fur, especially when she wants to cuddle, which is often.  She is a great all-around dog – smart, funny and full of joy.  And yes, a bit of mischief as well!
Joyce has been wonderful to work with.  She is open and honest.  Joyce always has time to answer our questions and we were well informed before we took on the role as guardian.  We are so glad we chose to be a guardian home for ADNE.

STATS and CERTIFICATIONS:

  • Date of Birth:  July 3, 2015.  A mating of  Annabelle's Nellie Bly and TW Emmett Piccolo. Both parents are non-shedding.
  • Size/Color/Coat: Approximately 16 inches tall and 28 lbs. Color DNA is: Bbee, at/a, DD, Ky/Ky, S/S, (carries for phantom/no dilute genes/expression gates open/no parti genes).  Abigail is a light apricot. Her coat is a non-shedding soft fleece.
  • Cleared by Parents through DNA test results: Normal/Clear for Exercised Induced Collapse, von Willebrand's Disease, Degenerative Myelopathy, Progressive Rod Atrophy and many others through Orivet test labs.
  • Thyroid/Blood Work/Chemistry's and TgAA - Done 9/2/16 with Hemopet - Normal.  TgAA is below 1. Thyroid levels Normal on 9/2/16. Accession No.  HML92884.

Beautiful Gunny had a local guardian but was returned due to asthma issues. (Remained here at ADNE)

I certainly was thrilled that Louise had all that I was looking for in a guardian, we were not aware the asthma medication she took would not work with Gunny.

Due to this unfortunate incident, I would like to refrain from a placement with anyone suffering with asthma or severe allergies. Gunny has a beautiful dark chocolate coat (that could lighten) with no shedding or dandruff. She would do well with families that have an adult at home, retirees, active adults or a single adult looking for a great companion to socialize with.

Gunny is an exceptional Cockapoo for new dna at ADNE. As always, I put health and temperament first in the creation of new Australian Labradoodle lines.

Gunny looks so much like an Australian Labradoodle! Her new DNA will certainly enhance my program. She is such a sturdy miniature with exceptional boning and a perfect saber tail. Her softly curling fleece is lush with no undercoat. Although I would consider Gunny  'slow to warm' to strangers when not in her comfort zone, she DOES warm up with a gentle and encouraging hand. You will need patience. She has bonded to me exceptionally well. Gunny would love a home with another dog and adults who have the time to continue her socialization with other dogs and people of all types.

Gunny has mesmerizing eyes, a very soft mouth (no nipping or grabbing) and gentle manners.
She does really well in a car (no sickness) and is learning how to walk better on a leash.

SHE HAS ARRIVED!

I am beyond excited to shout out that Miss Minnie Mc Guinness has landed at ADNE! What a delightful puppy from my good friend and breeder, Heather Clark of Cottage Acres Cockapoos.

It was serendipity that this lovely female was available. Called 'Gunny', she slipped right into my household like a glove.

Please welcome this adorable girl who we originally thought to place in a local guardian home but we could not give up Gunny, so she lives with us.  :+)

What is not to like about this adorable mini?
  • Gunny is very ladylike when she eats, no grabbing, growling or stiffness
  • is gentle with my baby 7 week old pups - very tolerant
  • respectful of my adult doodles that live here
  • does not nip
  • sleeps through the night
  • LOVES to cuddle and give kisses
  • non-shedding coat of soft waves
  • beautiful amber-green/hazel 'human' eyes

A new day with Gunny:
  • Gunny has a 'Do I have your permission to approach?' demeanor. She comes slowly and lays down with eyes looking for acceptance. Sometimes does a roll-over. She will jump up and gently put her paws on you but a soft correction of 'no' takes care of it.
  • She is not an over-eater. Eats till she is full and leaves it. She has a bladder like a camel, so you really have to watch her. Most pups eat and immediately potty - not Gunny.
  • A bath is not on her 'favorite thing to do' list. :+) She tolerated it well enough and is so silky to the touch now that she is dry.
  • Loves laying with you on the couch having her belly rubbed.
I could go on but I think I will get to know her better first. I know she must have something negative but I have yet to notice it. Oh, she loves to destuff toys!

MINNIE MC GUINNESS aka Gunny, Minnie Mac or Guinness..by whatever name...

It was just meant to be. I had been talking to my breeder friend whose program produced Gunny and asked if 'Teal Girl' had been sold yet. To my surprise, she had not. So, I asked to buy her as a breeding prospect. I had just received news that my chocolate/cafe girl was not going to meet my breeding requirements and my only other chocolate DNA girl was about to retire. This lovely chocolate Cockapoo was the perfect replacement to add new DNA to my existing Labradoodle lines.

The nickname 'Gunny' kept popping into my head, so I use it although Minnie McGuinness seems to suit her very well as it means  'a small tankard of brown ale'.  :+)

Gunny is a miniature who will most likely top out around 25 lbs. She is destined to be a part of my miniature lines as I move forward in my program.  We decided to keep Gunny with us here at ADNE.

I love her stocky build and lush, non-shedding coat.
Happily, Gunny sleeps through the night in her little bed till about 6:30 am. She uses the dogie door all the time and knows 'sit and down'. The command 'come' is somewhat reluctant with quite a bit of 'army crawling' and sometimes it is accompanied with a flip on the back which begs for a belly scratch. Fetching is an odd game of  'Yes, let's play but I want to keep the ball, ok?'

A hearty eater, I always have to watch that she does not try to wrangle some extras from the rest of the crew's bowls. Gunny is not an excessive barker but she will join in with the rest of the crew when so inclined. Gunny loves to take a nap on the couch cuddled very close to you. Other times, she is my foot warmer. I love her easy care coat but it does grow quickly!

Pine Lodge DAISY MAE DUKE - ADNE's sweet medium addition all the way from Oregon.

DAISY IS NOW RETIRED:  Thank you, Daisy for all your wonderful pups.  Happily, we have two of your daughters - Ms. Sadie Benz and Christy Brinkley; as well as a hopeful stud in Force of Hobbit to continue your lines.  :+)

Daisy arrived and simply slipped into our household as if she was born here. Like most of my doodles, she LOVES water - be it splashing in her water bowl, swimming in our pool or investigating the Tugboat in the puppy play area.

Silly, playful Daisy.

Gorgeous flowing non shedding coat.

I think she wants lessons on how to steer the boat!

Daisy has been such a great addition. She is very willing to be submissive to the other females here; yet interacts with them with great confidence and friendly overtures. Daisy follows me everywhere I go and is an especially wonderful car rider.  She is not a huge licker but most definitely a snuggler extrodinaire! A lap is the perfect place for this lightweight girl.  :+)  We are so very happy Daisy has joined our family.

Sweet Georgia Brown (RETIRED) came for a visit today and..................

a clipping! Georgie is such a sweet, confident, happy girl - you just fall in love with her at first sight. Her coat was really long (4 or 5 inches) of GORGEOUS fleece but tick season is upon us and her guardians needed her to be shorter for ease of finding those little buggers.

I do believe that Georgia will remain a shade of milk chocolate brown - not like Baker's Chocolate but more Milky Way. Yum! A future ADNE breeder, I hope!

I love her size and coat. She is 5 mos. here.

Georgie is a 'poser'.

Wouldn't you give this face a treat?

Happily relaxing after her clip.

Look how long it was! She arrived as a beautiful brown bear!  :+)

Sadly, Georgie has never been bred and is retired as a pet with her guardians.

Little Merry Pippin is visiting this weekend! RETIRED.

Along with several of my other breeders, Pippin has been scheduled for her eye and heart exams at my vet's health clinic going on today.

Since Pippin was here, I did a groom on her because her ears were too long.  Keeping them short is not only more attractive, it is healthier by allowing more air into the ear channels and preventing ear infections.

She is a cute little thing (about 16" and 25 lbs.) but sooooo solid, like a cement block!  Her curls are very, very soft and silky and she is very well behaved. Thanks for doing a great job with her, Rosemary!

Pippin is an exquisite deep apricot color.

There is a post further down celebrating Pippin's recent birthday with her sidekick, Bosco. You can see the difference between a 'Poodle' cut and the groom I did above. The dog does not even look the same!

Many pics on this site show the way an Australian Labradoodle should look. Any groomer that cannot look at a pic and perform the right cut needs to be replaced by one that is talented enough to do it correctly.  As long as each owner does their due diligence with combing the coat completely so no mats have formed, a groomer should be able to style your doodle in less than two hours.   :+)

Pippin and her sidekick, Bosco celebrate Pip's first birthday!

Is there such a thing as a birthday party for doggies?  Oh yes!

Pippin's guardian got into the birthday party spirit complete with celebratory hats! Thanks for sharing Rosemary!

Toot!  Toot! Happy Birthday to MERRY PIPPIN, ELVIS, DAISY BELL AND SIR WINSTON!

Pippin with her very best friend, Bosco.

Too cute to not share.

Wednesday, March 25, 2015

I am so proud to announce that little Merry Pippin has passed her Canine Good Citizenship test!

WOW! What an accomplishment! Pippin will be a year old next month and has done extremely well. Both she and her guardian must have worked very hard.  :+)

It isn't difficult to see that Dublin is her daddy as she looks like a mini 'Dub' -  such people pleasers with great genes to pass down!

CONGRATULATIONS TO PIPPIN AND ROSEMARY!

Tip O'Keefe, stud for ADNE - RETIRED

Keefer's testing results shows a clean bill of health and I am very excited to see what he brings to ADNE and the breeding community.

Keefer playing with a wood chip at 16 wks.

A gorgeous red stud muffin who I hope will be used on most of my medium sized females. His guardian family has been doing a wonderful job of training him.

Keefer will bring great color and keep the incredibly soft fleece coat strong in my program. His beautiful color stops people in their tracks.

Keefer's mom is Annabelle's Tate O'Reilly, a lovely caramel color and his sire is Tip of the Shore Thomas, a strong red carrier.

Three weeks old.

A wee babe at 1 week.

Seven weeks.
Five months.

Keefer at one year - 37 lbs.

What his guardians have to say:

Joyce and her program is absolutely fabulous.  We were referred to her by a friend when we decided it was time to start looking for a dog.  She has been so helpful, full of knowledge and runs truly a very ethical program.  With all of that she is also very nice, compassionate, loves all of the dogs and works endlessly to ensure you receive a well adjusted happy puppy.  Our Tip has been a wonderful addition to our family.  We get so many compliments on how beautiful he is and his amazing personality.  We are very happy and would highly recommend Joyce and her puppies.
Sandra and Greg Levin

Lil' Abner is a small boy in a BIG package! RETIRED

Abner and his guardian mom.

Instead of keeping a female from the Hazel x Emmett litter, I kept Lil' Abner. Initially, he was not my 'first choice', he just grew on me. I loved his temperament, size, tail and ear set. He has expressive eyes and a very loving nature. Abner likes to be with you and is a willing and energetic learner.

I think Lil' Abner will be a great addition to the my program as well as to other Labradoodle stock lines. I enjoy his guardian family very much as they are so committed to maintaining the level of quality my buyers come to expect from my program.

7 weeks
8 weeks - Temperament Test.

8 weeks - Valentine pic.
10 weeks and ready for his new home!

Lil Abner at 1/ 1/2 years of age.

What Abner's guardian has to say about him:
I am absolutely thrilled that Lil' Abner is part of our family.  He is a happy go lucky boy who is always up for a snuggle or a game of fetch. He prefers being by your side to anywhere else.
At 20 pounds, he is easy to pick up and put in the car; easy to bath and doesn't take over the sofa when he sits next to you. At the same time, he is perfectly capable of long walks and playing ball with amazing speed. We call him rocket dog because he is so fast!
His very soft curly coat is easy to take care of with a quick brush once a day which he enjoys. He will go get his brush and drop it at my feet when he wants to be groomed.

Abner is really everything I wanted in a dog for my daughter. He is great with kids and other dogs; he is the happiest dog I know. His tail is always wagging.

Here is our little man at 3 years old. Such a cuddler in so many ways. Abner is a true miniature and loves life to the fullest.

He sired his first miniature litter with Rose of Tralee at Nestlewood Labradoodles and they were the cutest little guys on the planet! Big personalities in a small package for sure.

Full of confidence and personality, Abner is available for stud service to well tested females.

What a surprise I had today! (RETIRED)

I was very happy to hear that my guardians for Tip O'Keefe, one of my hopeful studs, was coming to visit today. Imagine my surprise when Keefer left as an apricot and returned looking like this!

I was totally stunned! This photo was not retouched in any way. The day was grey, not sunny and my camera was in 'sport mode'. Typically, cream or apricot doodles that darken as they age carry a gene called 'Rufus'. It is known as the darkening gene and is not common. Most breeders who have a dog that carry this gene are thrilled and I am no exception!  :+)

Keeping my fingers crossed that this boy has wonderful test scores for inclusion as a stud in my program. He has the looks, the fabulous temperament and a coat to drool over but we won't know until I test him when he is a year - which is about 6 months away.  Till then, he is being insanely loved by his guardians who are doing a superlative job of training and socializing him. Kudos Sandra and Greg!  :+)

I have to share this picture.....

This is Merry Pippin, the girl I kept back from my last litter between Dancing Matilda aka Tillie and Tango Wool Dublin.  She is just about 18 weeks now and her guardian adores her.  I am told Pippin is also doing very well in her training classes - nearly doing a heal when walking on a leash - I am so impressed!!

Dublin was also used with Figgy Puddin', who is due in about 10 days or so. I do expect curly puppies from this mating similar to Pippin but I never know for sure because Mother Nature loves to play tricks! I am positive they will be just as adorable as Pippin!!

This is Pippin's way of asking for a belly rub...don't you just love it?

Sunday, June 22, 2014

Pippin is practicing for watching fireworks!

Can't you just hear her singing....'and the rockets red glare, the bombs bursting in air'.......

EMMETT PICCOLO - RETIRED AS OF 2/28/18 (FROZEN SEMEN AVAILABLE)

It was a last minute change in a contract that allowed me to keep Emmett and place him in a guardian home. Emmett was not only gorgeous as a puppy but was also a sweet, cuddly boy that loved meeting people and experiencing new things. The mating between Figgy Puddin and Tango Wool Rodeo was an excellent match - their pups were wonderfully tempered as well as beautiful.

Emmett at 8 months.

The pic on the left is Emmett at 8 months, showing a handsome face, silky coat and friendly demeanor. His guardian was doing an excellent job of keeping him socialized and exercised which are critical in the first year.

This is Emmett at his home at 11 months old. I, as well as others, are very enthusiastically greeted by this handsome boy.

I love a doodle with great structure and Emmett is no exception. He stands well balanced and moves like the wind.  I am told 'he has springs in his feet'.

I adore the black and white pic on the left. Jane, his guardian, says he sits there often to look at who or what is walking down their street. I guess it is a form of entertainment for him.  The stuffed toy in his mouth makes this shot even cuter.  :+)

What his guardian has to say about Emmett:

'I knew Emmett was special even as a puppy. He was the smallest of the litter but he managed to do everything the big kids did. He had and still has great self confidence and determination.

He is such a great companion, spunky and mischievous but also so affectionate and cuddly. He gets along great with other dogs, especially the Wheaton Terrier around the corner who is his best friend and who is teaching him to swim in the river near our house.

When he goes from the deck to the backyard he doesn't bother with the 5 steps - just sails off the deck and takes off running. He seems to strut when he walks. Did I mention that he is gorgeous? His hair is curly but so silky and soft, and he has the absolutely cutest little face. He goes everywhere with me and is always interested in everything around him, he is smart but can be stubborn and sometimes a little bit bad. He has a great personality.  I can't imagine my life without him.'  Jane.
