It has been soooo hot that the A/C is running non-stop in the Puppy Room and the pups have decided that a trip to the beach is warranted.  So we loaded up the 'woody' complete with surfboard to take in some wave action - at least in theory.  :+)

Interaction with each other begins....

After they finished feeding this morning, they started to play with each other.  This is the MOST adorable stage - discovery about themselves.  While some try to sleep, others want to taste, touch and learn the basics of wrestling.

They are also not as frightened when I approach - they are recognizing my scent and voice as their ears and eyes are in 'working order'.  Still I am careful and move slowly amongst them so that they become more and more comfortable.

Also, they have begun to become interested in the Goat's Milk that I offer them ever so often during the day.  Some, like Black Boy, Purple Girl, Red Girl and Green Boy are happy to taste and drink; while Orange Boy and Blue Boy still prefer the 'real deal' and have not ventured willingly yet.  Give them a few more days.  :+)

I was so surprised at how smoothly the transfer from my office to the Puppy Room went.  They hardly missed a beat.  I did wait until they had full bellies and were sleepy.  :+)  However, they have acclimated to their new surroundings beautifully.

Work started in the Puppy Room yesterday because I knew my husband had to make a trip but I needed him to put in the air conditioner before he left.  Bless his heart, he got it done.  Today, I steam cleaned the room and they made the move.  I am thrilled to have my office space once again!!

Figgy's pups are 2 weeks old and their eyes are open!

Red Girl 2 lbs. 3 ozs.
Blue Boy 2 lbs. 3 3/4 ozs.
Green Boy 2 lbs. 6 5/8 ozs.
Black Boy - 2 lbs. 10 3/4 ozs.
Purple Girl - 2 lbs. 11 1/4 ozs.
Orange Boy - 2 lbs.

We are keeping the Fourth of July theme for another week as we celebrate our nations birth. The pups will have a huge experience now that their eyes are open.  Although very sensitive to light at this time, their sight will grow stronger each day and eventually the 'bluish haze film' you may see in some of the shots will gradually go away.

Their appetites have no boundaries and Figgy is doing a great job keeping them satisfied.  I bet by the end of this week, I will have to change the pool to my Perla Dog Bed because it has higher sides so they can't climb out.  Once those eyes can focus - watch out world - they are coming!!  :+)

Fourth of July garden decorations.....

I wish I could keep them out there all the time because they are so adorable but they were brought right in after the photo shoot.  :+)  Such a great group of pups so far.

I hope everyone has a festive and safe holiday!

Our third car ride is not stressful at all. :+)

In keeping with my interest of proving out a theory from one of the seminars I attended, I take the newborn pups on three or more car rides during their first ten days of life.  It is said that by doing this, you can significatly imprint in a dog that cars are a good place and reduce the percentages of car sick dogs or car anxiety ridden dogs.

It does not look like they mind at all.  :+)
