This week I have seen these babies go from 'this is a big and scary world' to 'I think I should see what this is'.  They are beginning to recognize my voice and I get tail wags when I sit down to talk and play with them.  They are using their mouths more by intereacting with each other; as well as with some soft toys.

I changed up their area somewhat and included some potty trays.  Some are even learning to go potty in the right area!  They are still very young and I am glad to see their attempts at using the potty trays.  Also, they are learning to eat from a dish better.  All of them are enjoying the gruel but still prefer mamma's milk.  By 4 weeks of age, I will begin to reduce Pearl's food allotments in preparation for their eventual weaning.  By then, they are really ready for some solid food in their bellies.

Lastly, my son had to change the format of AnnaBlog due to some constantly occurring glitches with the navigational bar.  It is a more simplified format but making comments and researching should be much more easy.  Functionality is a very important part of a Blog!

I hope you enjoy all the pics as I know I have been a day late posting.

Each pup has their sleeping preferences.

Purple Girl is like the Princess and the Pea - only a high cushion will do.
Rainbow Girl loves to be squished in a corner.
Green Boy is all about having cushions on both sides.
Black Boy likes something to abut his head next to.
Then there is 'no frills' Teal Boy!

A pic of some of Jaxon x Sadie's pups. Just thought I would share. :+)

A local breeder here in Maine used my mini stud male, Percy Jaxon to mate with her girl and these Australian Labradoodle pups are just lovely! What amazing coats - so shiny and silky!  I will be choosing one of the girls to add to my program and will be looking for a local guardian home for her if all goes well.  If there is any interest in a family wanting a dark apricot, miniature female - please contact me!

Also, I believe Maine Coast Labradoodles has a couple of these pups available - I know a boy is and not sure of any females.  Check her site out if you are interested.  :+)

Four of the five pups showing off their gorgeous coats.

Sadie with some of the pups.  Is she not adorable?

The pups love to snuggle with their stuffed doodle that looks just like them.

Pearl pretty much sits up to nurse her chubby babies now.

I forgot to mention that I had moved the puppies into the Puppy Room last Friday night.  They acclimated very well.  Until the puppies are more mobile, I will not be introducing the potty box.  Right now, they are so chubby, they only roll.  :+)  In a few more days, they will begin to elevate themselves and once that happens....they really begin to develop.

The pups are just now finding their voices and every now and again, I hear what sounds like a 'baby bark'.  It is the cutest thing!  Pearl does not sleep with her babies at night any longer, she is in my bedroom with the other adults of our household.  I do hear her go downstairs during the night to tend to the pups but she comes back up when finished.  She is a very attentive mom but not overbearing which is so nice.  At night, Pearl comes up on the couch to nestle in my lap as we watch t.v.  She loves to cuddle.  :+)

Puppies are sooo close to opening their eyes at TWO weeks old.

For the first two weeks of a litter's life, I tend to only pick them up as necessary.  If the mom is a good one, she does most of the work such as feeding, cleaning and stimulating them.  Once that two week period is over, then I start handling them more often each day.  Most times, the pups are quite unhappy with me holding them and I certainly can understand that.  You must take into consideration that their sense of smell is becoming quite keen and they know I am not mommy!  Also, their eyes are just beginning to 'unfog' and if their sense of smell is good but their eyesight isn't yet, people can be quite scary!  So, small steps of sitting by their pool and stroking them becomes routine; then some soft handling and talking.  By the end of three weeks, they are becoming accustomed to me and doing much better.

When visitors begin coming over at four weeks old, the pups can still be rather shy but with lots of visits, they begin to look forward to the company.

Rainbow Girl at 2 wks. 2 lbs.

Look at these fat bellies!

Tomorrow I hope to post some new pics!  My breeder friend, Heather, caught this shot - too cute for words!
