Tate has arrived!

Yesterday, Tate had her x-ray to determine how many pups she is expecting. The x-ray shows six embryos - very happy about that! :+)

With the addition of Tate, we now have 8 doodles living here. Amazingly, Nellie, who has her new litter of six pups and Tate are being very civil to each other - which is a blessing! Having two hormonal moms at the same time can be quite a challenge but so far, so good.

In order to prepare for Tate, I moved Nellie and her six babies to the puppy room and all are doing great there. This allows me to prepare my office for Tate's impending pups. I find it important to have moms located as far from each other as possible to minimize any confrontations. You can never be too careful as 'protecting their pups' is as normal to dogs as it is for parents to protect their children.

It will be a few more days before Tate's litter arrives and I am looking forward to seeing what colors she could be carrying. It should be a 'Rainbow' litter which includes black, chocolate, caramel and apricot. We shall see if she follows the color code charts.  :+)

Tate is a caramel which means she has liver pigment - brown nose, paw pads, eye rims and amber eyes.

ABIGAIL ADAMS

RETIRED DOODLE - never bred.

Annabelle's Abigail Adams lives nearby in Wells, Maine. She has a lovely furry friend that she adores and her guardians are two of the nicest people I have ever met.

The first litter from Nellie and Emmett were adorable and that mating actually produced my first phantom marked puppy that I identified as 'Molly Pitcher'. It seems Nellie likes to whelp on holidays as her first litter was born on July 3rd. I 'nicknamed' all the pups with patriotic names and all but one customer kept those names!  Although I loved Molly, the phantom, she had an underbite so was sold as a pet. Fortunately, Abigail was also a charmer so I certainly lucked out. I do keep trying for that elusive phantom though!  :+)

Although, Abigail has several more tests to pass, the big ones are now behind us and her track to becoming an ADNE momma appears solid.

Well trained and smart.
Full of confidence!

Words from her guardians:

Abigail may be small in size, but she is big in our home and in our hearts.  She greets us every morning with a swiftly wagging tail that hardly stops all day.  Abby enjoys wrestling and playing chase with our older dog, Tucker. Long walks, visits with neighbors (human and canine), chewing on her antler and belly rubs are some of her other much loved activities.  Abby is athletic and her all time favorite pastime is leaping high through the stream of water from the garden hose.  It’s hard to resist her sweet face and exceptionally soft fur, especially when she wants to cuddle, which is often.  She is a great all-around dog – smart, funny and full of joy.  And yes, a bit of mischief as well!
Joyce has been wonderful to work with.  She is open and honest.  Joyce always has time to answer our questions and we were well informed before we took on the role as guardian.  We are so glad we chose to be a guardian home for ADNE.

Nothing happening with Nellie yet. UPDATE PIC!

She is still eating like a shark and licks everyone else's bowls for any possible scrap. I have never seen a pregnant mom with an appetite like Nellie's. It IS a good thing because the biggest concern for most breeders of miniatures is getting them to eat enough to maintain themselves AND the pups she is providing for. Believe me, I am grateful for her love of food! :+)

Nellie has been going outdoors often to potty AND she happily climbs into the whelping box to 'nest' but this pic was too funny to not post for her puppy buyers to see. I guess she is quite comfortable with how things are progressing. :+)

Oh Nellie! UPDATE: The good news is there are six pups according to her x-ray! The bad news is that there are too many applications.

Today Nellie Bly was dropped off for her maternity stay. Tomorrow is her x-ray appointment to see how many she is carrying - any guesses???? She looks rather 'porky'! Her belly is very low, so whelping should be quite soon. Will post here what her x-ray says.  :+)

UPDATE:  Although six pups are what we see, sometimes one is hiding but not often. If all goes well with the delivery, this means the following people are on her list for a pup:

  • D. Roy
  • L. Hallinan
  • P. Ogonowski
  • H. Paul
  • N. Fiore
  • A. Starzec
The rest of the applications will be on a Wait List. If more pups are presented, you will be contacted. If not, your application will be added to the next litter produced (Tate's) but there are no guarantees as her list has several applications already. Please note that I will contact one of the Wait List applicants if a pup is passed on for one reason or another once born.

If waiting is not possible, I suggest you research other breeders that may have pups sooner.
