Gunny's pups have their first family visit today!

This weekend the pups are having several family visits to say hello and interact with.

Our first family came today at 11 am to meet the ADNE adults that live here and to have some time to play with the puppies.

There will be more pics posted here tomorrow as well.......and here they are!!  The pups had a wonderful time and so did the families.  At times, they were exhausted but there was always a few ready and willing to be patted, held, tugged with and laughed over.

A great weekend of pup visits.  Thank you all for making the trip!

Lots of smiles from adults and children alike.  Their mom did not want to let go of that little chocolate boy!
Fingers are like nipples! No milk though!!!

Selfies!!

Even teens like puppies.  :+)

Sometimes you really have to hold them to know they are real.

Laces were created for puppies.

A meeting of the minds??

Two girls just chillin'.

It is a family affair.

WEEK SIX FOR THE GUNNY2 X ABNER KIDDOS!

Today, I decided to take 'au naturelle' pics of each pup alone outdoors in the turf yard.  I have not cleaned up the debris from winter yet, so apologies.  I just thought it would be a great change and I wanted to see how the pups reacted in a place they had never been around.

Believe it or not, they also use the dogie door to go outside when they have playtime. They just use the aisle but it still allows them to potty outside if the need arises  (or occurs to them) and also come in if they feel chilly.  They enjoy the fresh air and it gives me a chance to clean up their messes and use the mop and vacuum.

All of them have 'brave and not so brave' moments and that is normal.  Today, for instance, I put down the large metal lid that makes a racket.  At first, they were curious but not willing to go near it. Then one touched in with his paw and it clanked. Before long, they were all pawing at it and could care less about the noise it made.  It is these things that help pups learn to overcome a possible fear. This is why introducing all kinds of odd stuff is so important for the development of a pup's temperament and confidence. DNA can only do so much, environmental stimulation is of equal importance!

Green Boy wondered 'Where the heck am I'?  3  3/4 lbs.

Purple Girl could not believe the space she had to explore!  4 lbs.

Blue Boy went hither and dither to check 'this and that'.  4 lbs.

Teal Boy is thinking 'What is out here'?  3 5/8 lbs.

Rainbow Girl's expression is 'Can I chew this'? 3  3/4 lbs.

Orange Boy 'Do I touch it, or leave it'?  4 lbs.

CHARLOTTE X WYATT Whelping day saga.

Charlotte and I had a good night's sleep, which is a good thing!  Today should be their 'birthday' and I will keep everyone updated as any symptoms arrive.

  • 7:21 am - resting in the whelping box but licking herself to keep 'clean'.
  • 8:20 am - ate breakfast -- I was hoping she would refuse, but Charlotte loves to eat! Typically, refusing to eat is a #1 symptom of impending babies.  On a positive note, I have had girls eat right up to delivery, so it is not a scientific fact.  Ha, ha!
  • 1:46 pm - threw up lunch - a SIGN!!
  • 3:30 pm - First one just born! I swear it walked out! Not a sound was heard. I was lying down on the couch with Charlotte and I must have dozed off. I heard heavy licking and then a leg showed. Like lightning, I picked up Charlotte and we rushed to the office whelping area. It is a male.  :+)  A big boy that weighs 13 & 1/4 ounces.  Identified as Red Collar Male.
  • 4:16 pm - Second male born. Charlotte does not make a sound while whelping. She pushes in complete silence.  Amazing. A chocolate boy that weighs 13 & 7/8 ounces.  Identified as Brown Collar Boy.  He does not have white markings.
  • 4:32 pm - Third pup is also a male!  A surprise too as he is a chocolate and white PARTI!  A smaller male that weighs 11 & 3/8 ounces.
  • 5:20 pm - Female born!  It, too, is a parti!  She is the smallest and weighs 10 & 1/4 ounces. Identified at Pink Collar female.
  • 5:27 pm - Last one is also a female. She is a chocolate!  Identified as Yellow Collar female and weighs 11 & 3/8 ounces.
I think we are done and now it is clean up time.  I also would like to offer Charlotte some food and let her rest.

Thank you Charlotte for delivering during the day and without a bit of drama!  :+)

Ever attentive. Not all pups are even dry yet!

Tired but happy.  She ate dinner and had some water and is ready to take a nap.

GUNNY2 X ABNER LITTER - WEEK FIVE

It has been a busy, busy, busy day with a vet appointment for Charlotte, who is having five puppies but my vet was behind schedule which put the rest of my day on 'delay'.

I had a wonderful friend stop by, which I enjoyed immensely and as I told her 'if you don't take the opportunity to spend some time with friends, it might be too late another day.  Right after she left and I was getting my equipment set up for pics, our neighbors stopped by and that pushed me back once again!

Finally, it was picture time but it took three sessions for me to be happy with the results, so better late than lousy pics, right??

I now feed the pups three times a day to take a load off of Gunny. She goes in to nurse when and if she wants to as I know the pups eat well.  This process works well for everyone and Gunny decides when she wants to totally wean her pups.

I have extended their pen space to include an 'Interaction Square' for them to check out and pull on and they now have a bed in their pen. Next week, I will remove the bed and put in a couple of crates for them to investigate and get use to.  By the way, they have teeth!

To the pics with Mr. Floppy Ears!  HAPPY EASTER EVERYONE!

Orange Boy weighs 3  3/4 lbs.

Green Boy weighs 3  1/2 lbs.

Teal Boy weighs 3  1/4 lbs.

Rainbow Girl weighs 3  1/2 lbs.

Purple Girl weighs 3  1/2 lbs. and is using Floppy's ear as a blanket. She is ready for a nap!

Blue Boy is almost at 4 lbs. and is the largest in the litter.  3  7/8 lbs.

I see spots.....

This new switch is making me dizzy but the pups seem to be doing fine.

My Froggie is in a separate area for now and today brought two soft 'houses' for them to check out and new 'designer' carpet for their feet. Ha, ha!

While I was changing the turf lined litter box for pellets and a rack, the pups played in the pup room with Mr. Froggie.  They get more brave every day!  Their little feet need to get use to different textures hence the pellets and rack.  The rack is inserted upside down so it is even with the pellets until they grow just a bit more.  Plus this gives them time to get accustomed to walking on the rack - lumpy bumpy footing is important to developing balance.  In a few more days, I will be able to reverse it so that most of their poops will go through the slats and they stay cleaner.  Once that happens, Gunny is no longer in charge of poop clean up, I am!  How lucky am I???

Two of the pups are trying to get through the door - just like kids!

Checking out the new digs and the litter box.

Some are just more curious than others.

The 'houses' are made of cloth and fold down easily. Seems a couple of them
prefer sleeping outside of them than in them! Crazy pups!
