I have begun ENS on the pups. (Daisy x Wyatt)

On each litter produced here at ADNE, the pups go through the Bio Sensor program for 16 days beginning on Day 3 of life.  A brief description of the program is below:

'The "Bio Sensor" program was also concerned with early neurological stimulation in order to give the dog a superior advantage. Its development utilized six exercises which were designed to stimulate the neurological system. Each workout involved handling puppies once each day. The workouts required handling them one at a time while performing a series of five exercises. Listed in order of preference, the handler starts with one pup and stimulates it using each of the five exercises. The handler completes the series from beginning to end before starting with the next pup. The handling of each pup once per day involves the following exercises:
  1. Tactical stimulation (between toes)
  2. Head held erect
  3. Head pointed down
  4. Supine position
  5. Thermal stimulation'
I would like to mention that the 'sixth exercise' is actually the socialization period that is so critical for the life of your pet which is why I require puppy classes in my contract.  :+)

Like all things, some pups gain much from this program while others are not nearly as affected.  I always feel it is worth doing if it can improve any pup to better handle his/her environment.  :+)

Had our first check up! DAISY X WYATT

This morning we arrived at the vets for both Daisy and the pups' check ups.  Daisy is doing really, really well - producing milk, no fever (which is typical after a whelp) and in good shape.  The pups were checked for cleft palates, deformities, heart health and had their dew claws removed.  All were given 'thumbs up'!

For those that already sent in an application for one of these pups, now is the time to send in your $500 deposit fee which is fully refundable if you should change your mind.  I would also like to point out that the go home date is the weekend of September 8th & 9th.  Please be sure this pick up weekend does not interfere with other family plans as I do not hold over pups.  You may decide to have your trainer pick up your pup or move to another litter or have a responsible family member come in your place.  I give you this date as early as I can so there will be no conflicts, please mark your calendars!

I have availability in this litter!  I also plan to keep two pups for Guardian Homes, so keep that in mind!  :+)

All is well. :+)

Although Daisy is still very tired from her marathon delivery, she is a terrific mom.  All the pups made it through the night and continue to nurse 24/7.  The only time Daisy gets a break is when she is eating or 'nature' calls.  The demands of motherhood are strenuous for both dogs and humans!

If you look closely, you can count all ten.  :+)
Daisy and pups will be visiting my repro vet tomorrow morning to check over Daisy and pups.  The pups dew claws will also be removed at this time.

Once my vet tells me all is well with the pups, I will then request a deposit from those on her list.  I do have a couple of openings available as well as two slots for guardian homes.

Although this size litter is a ton of work, I am so excited to watch them grow as their parents have such sweet, endearing temperaments and I expect nothing short of that from the pups.  :+)

DAISY IS DELIVERING!

I was on the porch saying 'Goodbye' to my daughter and family when I heard a squeak.  Lo and behold, there was Daisy on my kitchen floor with her first born still attached to the placenta!  Daisy picked up her little chocolate morsel and proudly pranced down the hall directly to the whelping box!

Now she will stay put and continue her labor.  I will update as pups arrive.

  1. Female, chocolate - 8 1/2 ounces
  2. Male, apricot - 8 5/8 ounces.
  3. Female, cream - 8 1/8 ounces
  4. Female, chocolate - 7  3/4 ounces
  5. Female, cream - 8  1/4 ounces
  6. Female, apricot - 5  5/8 ounces
  7. Female, apricot - 9 ounces
  8. Female, apricot - 8  1/8 ounces
  9. Male, black - 9  3/8 ounces
  10.  Male, black - 10  1/4 ounces

I pray we are done but will wait for about an hour or so to see if any more should make an appearance.  What an amazing job Daisy did.  Ten pups delivered in less than two and a half hours is remarkable.

She had some ice cream in celebration of her brood.  :+)  She is now taking a deserved rest with her babies.

You may be able to see all of them but there are 10 at the moment.  Still not sure if there are more but Daisy seems content and I may be able to clean up and put in new bedding for the rest of the night.  Thank you sweet girl for a daytime delivery!

DAISY X WYATT LITTER

Daisy had her x-ray today and she has a bellyful!  The vet thinks 9 or 10 but 'it looks like spaghetti' in there!

So, those of you who have submitted an application, should be feeling pretty good about having a puppy in September.  If all goes well, I will have space for new applicants but want to be sure the whelp goes well and once done, will open up for new applications.

Here is her x-ray for fun and games:

Hoping to add a little cutie to ADNE!

On Monday, I will brave the Fourth of July traffic onslaught to visit a breeder friend in Massachusetts to view her litter of adorable miniatures.   There is one that I am particularly interested in and she is a black and apricot phantom marked little girl with a white goatee.  From pictures, she has what I am looking for in new pedigree lines, size and type.  I am pretty sure her coat will have some curl but will be able to judge better once I can see, feel, hold and watch her move.  I am VERY excited about this possibility as I have been wanting a female phantom mini for several years.  Recently I added an unrelated chocolate phantom male miniature to my program as well as a black and light tan one.  However, none of them have gone through my vigorous testing protocol yet as they are all too young.  As a breeder, you invest in several types of what you hope to produce in the future and keep your fingers crossed that one might hit all the markers to become a breeder.

Of course, there are also some very cute apricots in the same litter and one of those might smitten me, so I am keeping an open mind as all the pups will carry for the black and apricot combination.  Learning about colors and patterns is extremely interesting to me and I enjoy this genetic learning curve.  Working with a breeder I know very well is also a huge plus.  :+)

This is the girl I am most interested in:

With her adorable white goatee, there is a very good chance she is a Tri Phantom Pattern which is very similar to the markings of a Bernese Mountain Dog.  Her paternal grand-daddy is a full Tri and gorgeous.  The fact that she is staring right into the camera shows confidence at such a young age (five weeks).

Once I return, I will have new pics and more info.  I will also be looking for a local (under and hour) guardian home for her.  If all goes well, I expect her placement to be around July 18th or so.

We may not have pups at the moment, but we are busy, busy!

Maintenance and upgrades are being worked on.  Our house is being repainted and hubby is busy making a new ramp that leads from the pup room to the outdoor playground.  It is time to pressure wash all the pavers and turf for the upcoming litter and to clean all the equipment.  It is nice to have this block of time to get these jobs done.

In the meantime, Daisy is doing great and getting more and more 'round'.  She will have her x-ray soon (week or so) and then it won't be long before pups are here!
