SURGERIES ARE DONE! Elsie x Duckie Litter

The pups did beautifully and I was able to pick them up in earlier than I expected.  When I got them home, they went outdoors for potty and then I kept them in the pup room pen for recuperation.

Surprisingly, both Gretel and Onyx were gentle with them.  They only had their microchips inserted at the vets.  The 'patients' had their microchips put in while under anesthesia for their surgeries - lucky little buggers.  Those microchip needles pinch!

Buzz is on the grate with Gretel and Onyx laying down in front.  Rosie is snuggling with the stuffed bunny and Maggie Mae is happily hogging the crate space.

Surgery tomorrow! Elsie x Duckie Litter.

We are off again to the vets tomorrow.  All of the pups will be getting their microchips and Buzz, Maggie Mae and Rosie will be getting their surgeries.  It will be multiple visits as the pups will not be picked up until late in the afternoon and I also have two of my adults going in for their annuals in the early afternoon.  Better gas up the car again!

I always like to give the pups a bath before their surgery day and I must say ALL the pups enjoyed the water and the spray hose.  Maggie actually just sat there enjoying the spray as I lifted her head to get to her chest but none of them were an issue at all.  I had the blow dryer going but really did not use it much as the pups were comfortable with just the towel soaking up the water.  They did go into the crates for a nice nap after the bath.

Will hopefully have some pics of the pups after they return home.

Will see most of you on Saturday, June 8th at 1 pm.  I do have one client picking up at noon due to their long drive.

Another new post that I am so excited about!

This little guy is over the top cute.  He is six months old now and we had a visit this morning.  What a little doll baby!  About 14 inches tall and 15 lbs., a true mini stud prospect.

If you read my post on Hobbs and his Mastiff friend Brick, it was truly heartwarming.  I had Hobbs checked over to see how he was progressing and my vet was soooooo smitten with him.  I wanted to post a few pics to show off this miniature stud prospect.  I pray he passes his testing when a year.  Right now, we wanted to be sure he has two testicles, is friendly, solid in structure and confident.  He is all that and more!  :+)

ADNE Force of Hobbit aka Hobbs is from Daisy Mae and Thaddeus.  He just makes my heart sing!

Clary and her babies see the vet!

Another busy morning and a couple of vet runs.  Although there is great controversy about removing dew claws on puppies, I always do.  There are good reasons to keep them and just as good a reason to remove them.  Since my vets are fine with their removal to prevent snagging on branches and brush as well as groomers not nicking them during a grooming that is what I opt for.  At the same time, my vet checks for cleft palates and abnormalities and Mom gets a once over to be sure plenty of milk is being produced and she is not in any distress.

The vet techs love working with these tiny babies as you can see.  :+)

CLARY X WYATT LITTER - ONE DAY OLD GROUP PIC.

Clary has been doing really well and her pups have gained almost 2 ounces overnight!  Just thought you would like to see a pic of the group.

Do you see those cute little heads laying on her leg?

The group.

ONYX COLLAR GIRL HAS A HOME!

UPDATE:  ONYX HAS A WONDERFUL HOME.  THANK YOU TO ALL WHO SENT IN INQUIRIES!!

From the moment she was whelped, I had hopes to keep her for a breeding girl to place in a guardian home but she has a slight under bite which nixed her from my program.  Upon the vet exam for her Health Certificate, it was not even noted because it is so insignificant; but I take pride in my breeding stock and even small deficits bump you off for consideration.

According to my trainer's Temperament Assessment done at 7  1/2 weeks of age, here is the best criteria for Onyx Girl to bloom (a full copy of her assessment will be provided for guidance):

  • a stable dog to give Onyx a confidence boost would be a huge benefit
  • Preferably works from home or can bring to their business.  Onyx needs time to greet unfamiliar people or new environments, so gentle exposure and patience for both.
  • use a professional trainer that can teach you how to redirect her when she appears stressed
  • provide lots of encouragement and play time - Onyx loves to play fetch and tug
  • A home that is not excessively noisy or loud and has enough sense to give her a quieter place to be during these times until she shows comfort in that setting.
On the positive side:
  • Onyx is friendly and likes to be with familiar people.  Unfamiliar people need to give her a bit of time to assess them.  She is not the type of dog that will knock people over with excited abandon.
  • She loves food so will be easy to train with positive rewards.
  • She is loyal and will stay close to you for human contact and will be an easy dog to train off leash when safe to do so.  She is very agreeable and willing to learn.
  • Onyx has a silky, wavy coat that will be easy to maintain and a joy for any groomer as well as non shedding.
  • She adores belly rubs.  :+)
Any interested parties that fit this criteria are welcomed to contact me by phone or email.  Info is on the bottom of any page of this website.

CLARY HAS HAD HER LITTER!

Oh my goodness this day has been full of surprises - Clary's litter has arrived and she was such a trooper for a first time mom!

Her pups are very plump and have taken to nursing like champs.  Clary ate a good meal of chicken and raw meat dosed with a high caloric syrup and some vitamins.  A cool, long drink was also welcomed and now all are resting.

Hopefully, Clary will leave her babies for a few seconds to go outside to potty before I go to bed.  Many mom's are 'busting' but will refuse to leave their babies.
