Jonnie has done her duty.

Tomorrow, I will be returning Jonnie to her guardians.  They are so excited for her return.  I don't think she is aware yet, but once in the car I think she will have an idea'.

Her spot on my bed will be happily filled with Gunny, who has had her nose bent a bit with having to share the bed with Jonnie every now and again.  Surprisingly, they got along very well!

Having just one nursing momma in my house will be much more peaceful.  :+)

Thank you, Jonnie for being a great whelper and momma to your seven adorable puppies!  Maybe the next time we decide to breed you, we will use Force of Hobbit aka HOBBS - that, too, should be an adorable litter!!

WEEK FIVE - JONNIE X DUCKIE!

Although a pack filled day, I was happy that Jonnie's pups cooperated and we were able to get their five week pics done pretty quickly!

Maybe they are still have a hangover from all the attention they received over the weekend!  Ha, ha.

They have been using the potty box quite well and that makes clean up nice and simple.  I love a litter that catches on so quickly.  :+). They now look forward to their meals and gobble it all up.  They still love to nurse on Jonnie but I have reduced that to about one or two a day as Jonnie will be back with her guardians by the weekend.  My Home Girls are eager to teach and entertain the pups so still lots of nurturing will continue.

Yes, I am busy with two litters but I knew that.  Truly just one hectic week is not so bad.  I always  schedule my matings based on the number of weeks of 'overlap'.  I keep it as short as possible so I have the time for the care necessary.

Here are these cuties!

Pink Girl has such a unique 'rust' color mixed with her phantom pattern.

Green Boy is still recovering from the weekend 'love feast'!

Teal Girl was such a good sport for her photo session.

Coal Boy was picture perfect as well!

Blue Boy tipped the basket over.  Are we surprised???  :+)

Rose Girl is about to take a nap.  Look at the pretty eye color.

Violet was bright eyed and busy tailed.  :+)

A VERY busy WEEK FIVE - Jonnie x Duckie Litter.

We had numerous visitors this week as the puppies are now ready to be socialized.  Lots of hands, voices, laughter and questions about the pups and mom were addressed.  My home girls also received lots of patting and treats as they were introduced to all who came.

I had pup visits scheduled in the morning and afternoon on both Saturday and Sunday BUT...  Sadie decided to whelp in the afternoon on Saturday and I had to cancel the afternoon schedule.  I was able to make up a couple on Sunday but it was really too much for the pups.  In the future, I will be limiting first pup visits to one in the am and one in the pm.  I am always eager to have visits during the week as well so that the weekends are not so cluttered.  :+)

Here are some pics of pups and visitors.  A great and informative time was had by all!  :+)

Vet visit went super well!

This morning Sadie and pups went to the vets for a check up and to be sure the pups were all 'normal'.  Happily all received a clean bill of health.  Sadie returned home and happily gobbled up two bowls of kibble with some homemade liver broth over it - she LOVED it.  I will have to make some more!

I have already contacted those on her list that now is the time to send in a deposit if they wish to purchase a pup.  Once I know who is serious and who has moved on, I will update my availability with this litter - two are now available!  Read the Home Page for more info!!

Always pleased when all goes well with the pups' first vet exam!

Sadie got the jump on me! She whelped TODAY! Updated with pics!

I had Jonnie visitors planned for this morning and afternoon, so a busy day.  The morning visitors came and I checked on Sadie - all was well.  I made lunch for Jonnie's pups and myself and when I was done, went to check on Sadie again.  Lo and behold she had her first pup!  Not a sound was made from Sadie!  She did appear confused about the pup though!  This is quite normal and by the time the second was born, Sadie settled in and did what comes naturally.

Whelping is messy and you need to keep changing the pads so the pups don't get chilled.  I opted to put Sadies' two pups in my Puppy Bunting which is heated as a chilled pup will not nurse!  Sadie is right by them checking all the time.  :+)

I thought I might get a surprise as the potential was there in the combination of color DNA.  What I did NOT expect was only one chocolate born!  Now, technically, Caramels are considered 'blond chocolate'.  Have you ever tried Paneuche Fudge?  It is delicious but not brown in color.  There certainly is a variety in this litter.  :+)

Here is the order of birth:

  1. Rocky (ID Collar is Grey) - The only male in the litter!  He is also the smallest at 5 7/8 ounces.  Black/Tan Phantom.
  2. Fern (Green Collar) - Female.  I believe Fern is a chocolate abstract.  Fern has bits of white on toes, chin and chest.  8 1/4 ounces.
  3. Bluebelle (Blue Collar) - Female. 'Big' Bluebelle is either a Caramel or an Apricot.  10 1/8 oz.
  4. Copper (Orange Collar - Female.  Now this was a surprise.  Copper is a Sable - my first one ever but I knew it could happen with this mating.  She is 'reddish/apricot' in color but will have black tipping on some of the areas of her coat like her face, fringe of her ears, tail and sometimes her body.  When cut short, you would only see the tipping on her ears or face.  Most sables develop into a deep apricot color with just fringes of black tipping on the ears.
  5.  Iris (Purple Collar) - Female. One that could be Caramel or Apricot/Cream.
  6. Raven - (Black Collar) - Female.  Black solid.
So, Mother Nature really shook up the deck! - A Phantom, an Abstract, a Sable, a Solid and possibly a couple of Caramels or Apricots.  What a shuffle!!  :+)

Sadie is resting comfortably.  Maybe a pic tomorrow.  I also have an appointment to have Sadie and pups vet checked on Monday morning and once done will contact those on her list for a $500 deposit.  Please take the time to read about ASSIGNMENTS under the PUPPY PREP TAB before committing.  If you already know you are going to pass on this litter, PLEASE let me know!  I would appreciate that very much.  Thank you.

Sadie has arrived!!

Right around noontime, Sadie came back to where she was born almost 2 1/2 years ago to have her first litter.

After introducing her to Daisy (her momma!), Gunny, Olive, Willis and Harriet, Sadie felt right at home.  She is following me everywhere and happily sat with me on the couch while I had lunch.  I am so glad I decided to ask her guardian to bring her crate because as I type, she is relaxing inside of it.  :+)

She was very good as I gave her a sanitary trim in preparation for the pups' arrival and I also trimmed her eyes and ears while I was at it.  Keeping everything trimmed up prevents a lot of mess during the delivery!  Afterwards, I will clean her up and eventually give her a full groom.  Doodle coats grow quickly and she will look right as rain by the time she goes home.  :+)

Since I still have Jonnie and her pups, both moms will be kept separate from each other as hormones truly bring out the 'bear' in mommas!!  I am grateful for two separate areas outdoors for potty purposes.  :+)

Sadie is expecting six pups.  Some of the chocolate ones will become Lavender, like Sadie.  It is such a unique color that stops most people in their tracks.  I don't expect any of the chocolates to remain dark chocolate as my chocolate lines all have dilution genes in them.  There may be an assortment of dilute chocolate, cream and black with the possibility of a Sable (think Wolf colors), Abstract (having bits of white) or Phantom (like Jonnie's litter).  Mother Nature just loves playing tricks with her DNA color wheel!  I love surprises, so always look forward to what she has in store.

I have availability in this litter of small mediums - 28 to 32 lbs. and 17 - 18 inches.  Go home date will be in May.  Once she delivers, I will have a specific date for pick up.  If anyone is interested in a pup, please send in an application from my website located under the Purchase Details tab.  Thanks!

A chip off the ol' block!

After my vet visit this morning, I went to visit DIESEL who is a son of Boomer and Gunny.  What a DELIGHTFUL boy!

He is slightly smaller than his daddy which was what I was hoping for.  A gorgeous silky, silky, black wavy fleece coat that his guardians keep long.  I expect he will get a 'big boy' haircut soon but I know how hard it is to want to cut a coat like this.

My thoughts on his mature size is roughly 25 to 28 lbs. and about 17 inches in height.  I am looking forward to his testing in about 4 months!  What stunning pups he will produce.  Oh, and his temperament is sooooo sweet and cuddly - a real momma's boy!  :=)

Cuddled next to his momma indoors.  He kept coming towards me for pats so we had to  'squish' him.  :+).
Love his white splashes!

Outdoors he looks like a black Maine bear!  His coat is so luxurious, you just want to  keep your hands on him.
His guardian says his favorite things are 'being brushed and cuddled'...oh, and playing keep away!
