Pups fourth car ride!

In the hopes of preventing car sick pups/dogs, I take the neonate pups on a minimum of three car rides before the pups are ten days old. A seminar I attended several years ago stated that by doing this 'imprinting' pups tend to NOT get car sick nor have a fear of being in a vehicle. I can't say that it works 100% of the time, but I can say that it certainly makes a difference on many!

These guys were not concerned at all.  :+)

Figgy x Keefer litter - WEEK ONE!

I know it has only been a week but these guys remind me of two week old pups. I have to keep reminding myself they are not!

They are still in my office but I expect they will be moved to the puppy room in a week or so. Figgy is doing an excellent job and they are a content bunch most of the time. :+)

Royal Boy 1 lb. 15 ozs.

Red Boy 1 lb. 14 ozs.

Green Boy 1 lb. 8 ozs.

Teal Girl 1 lb. 11 ozs.

Love this pic!

This morning, as I was preparing breakfast for all the doodles, I could hear a pup whining. I also heard my husband talking to the group and continued my preparations. I went in to check and this is what I saw:

My husband, Carl, 'rocking' Teal Girl. She was very content. :+)

Some misc. pics of the litter. :+)

They sure are growing! They seem so 'oversized' for their age but it must be because my last litter was such little guys (miniatures) that I think I am seeing St. Bernard pups! Ha, ha.

Figgy's pups are doing so well.

Would you believe Royal and Red boys are already a pound at two days old???

Royal and Red boys are sleeping together as are Teal and Green (who lost his ID collar!)

Green Boy - showing off his lovely white chest.

Royal Boy flashing his chest and those cute white back toes!

Figgy and pups had their first car ride today.

All of us went to the vets so the pups could be checked and also have their dew claws removed. This is done so they will not catch on underbrush, clothing, etc. and tear off. A torn dew claw is very painful and bloody, so I do this for prevention of such an injury.

Figgy was also checked and in good shape with excellent milk supply. All is good.

I will take the pups on more car rides to hopefully prevent car sickness. It is not 100%, but it does help many.

Royal Blue Boy

Red Boy (who will be lavender, not deep chocolate)

Green Boy

Teal Girl.

Figgy has begun (and finished) whelping! PICS!

It is truly a gorgeous Spring morning and Figgy has begun the birthing process!

  • 8:51 am - a chunky black male (white chest/toes) arrived weighing 15 1/8 ounces!
  • 9:13 am - a female,  in apricot (could be caramel), weighing 13 5/8 ounces.
  • 10:32 am - another black male with white tips weighing 12 1/8 ounces.
  • 01:40 pm - Chocolate male - 13 7/8 in weight. He took forever to present himself.
Whew! Big babies but all seem to be doing well. Figgy drank and ate some food and is now comfortably nursing her group.

I can't wait until they are big enough so you can see the beautiful large splash of white on the chests of the black pups - so sharp looking!  :+)

It may be a couple of weeks before I will know for sure if the female will be labeled an apricot or a caramel. She could go either way. The distinction is in the nose color - if liver, she would be a caramel; if black, she is an apricot.

The chocolate male could stay chocolate or become lavender, like his mom - who was chocolate at birth!

Someday, I do hope I will include one just like this in my program. Sigh.

This is the girl I had to pass on from the Emmett x Nellie mating due to a slight underbite. I do hope another like her will be born again the next time they have a litter.

I just love this phantom pattern in black and red.

I picked up Figgy this morning for her maternity stay.

She is such a good girl and is feeling so pregnant. Remarkably, she is doing very well with all the 'busy body' females that I have here.  :+)

Figgy's mammary glands are showing milk supply is ready!

Socializing with some of my girls outdoors in the play-yard.

Getting a scratch from my hubby. They have the same color hair!!  :+)

'I am tired, fat and uncomfortable'! How many 'moms to be' have said those words at the last stages of pregnancy???

I have good news and bad news.

I took Figgy to the vets this morning for her x-ray and the good news is that she and the pups look healthy; the bad news is that there are only four pups.  :+(

This means those on the 'Wait List' will not get a pup unless the previous four change their minds and move to another breeder or litter.

Right now, those scheduled to receive a pup are the following:

  • W. A. Janvier
  • M. Meier
  • J. Park
  • J. Gilberti
If the above renege for any reason, I will contact the Wait List group asap! I have no control over Mother Nature and I was so hoping for at least six. Sorry to disappoint.  :+(

I LOVE it when clients with pups from the same litter send me pics of them meeting up for a play date!

These are two brothers from the past litter of Hazel and Emmett. They met up and instantly knew each other. According to the email, they played and played and were quite a hit!

How adorable are these two minis???

These two pups love to play together and should be taking naps this afternoon. :+)

Gunny (6 mos.) and Hannah (7 mos.) are similar in size and age and it looks like they are trying to tear each other apart in the pics! Don't be alarmed, they are having a ball together and love the 'rough and tumble' playtime.  I had just finished giving my parti patterned girl Hannah her first 'big girl' haircut.

It is so good to see Gunny holding her own against Hannah, who is quite the confident pup! Gunny is the gentle soul who would rather say 'Uncle' then challenge another dog. Gunny is really beginning to interact with other dogs now instead of just Daisy and my crew. Still tentative at times, but every new social interaction has been a great learning experience for her.  :+)

Tate is visiting.

I am hoping being here with all my girls might help her system decide it is time to cycle already!!

At least it has given me the opportunity to take some pics of her. :+)

Tate's color(s) remind me a bit of a Golden Retriever. There is plenty of that lovely caramel shading but lots of 'vanilla' shades too. The sun bleaches out her colors and the shade highlights the silky caramel parts. Her mating with Theo could produce some pups with white tipping or a parti pattern as both carry for the gene.

Gazing through the fence outdoors.

Wondering where her 'mommy' is. The sun's reflection on her coat bleaches it out in this photo.

Please do take a moment to enjoy this wonderful link from a customer with a great sense of humor and fabulous voice!

This was sent to me on Mother's Day last night and I just have to share - brought a big smile (and a few tears)!

I hope you all have a good chuckle and be sure to hug your fur-baby! Barolo is from a Tate x Thomas litter.

Gunny, snuggling with a friend.

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY TO ALL MY FURRY GUARDIAN 'MOM'S'!

And let's not forget the wonderful moms that care for them 24/7 - without all of you, Annabelle Doodles could not offer puppies to so many families.

THANK YOU!  Grandmommy Joyce  :+)
