NELLIE2 X EMMETT LITTER - WEEK 3

The third week of life for puppies is both exciting and very scary!  They see and hear pretty well now so loud noises can scare them. I even scare them because they can see me and I look VERY big to them. This is why the third week is a 'critical period'. It will take them a bit to begin to feel comfortable with people, places and things. By the time they are four weeks, they are more comfortable but still on the 'learning curve' of people acceptance. Do not be surprised at all if they seem quite uncomfortable with you when you come to visit - it is very normal.

This past week, I introduced the potty tray and they are using it quite well! I change the potty pads often but am so happy they are using them. Nellie is happy too.  :+)

Their mouths are being used more and more to taste each other; and to chomp on the hanging baby toy playthings. With regard to their weights, those close to 3 lbs are targeting to be 28 to 30 lbs. at maturity. Whereas, those in the mid 2 lbs range will be around the mid 20's and those closer to 2 lbs lightweights at 20 - 23 lbs.

Here are some close up pics of these babies.

Blue Boy weighs 2  1/2 lbs.

Pink Girl is 2 5/8 lbs.

Teal Girl is a chunker at 3 5/8 lbs.

Red Girl - 3 1/4 lbs.

Purple Girl - 2 7/8 lbs.

Phantom Girl exactly 3 lbs.
